iPhone 6 Electric Shocks + Other Problems

Hi all,

I've been experiencing some electric shocks from my iPhone 6 (mild but painful nonetheless). At first it happened when I touched the phone while it was connected to my Mac & I was touching the area where the cable connects to the phone so I thought maybe that's the issue because it was charging.

Then, some time last week I wasn't charging it and I was talking on the phone when I got shocked a few times at my ear. There was no water or moisture in my hands, etc & I'm not sure why it happened. Anyone else experienced this? Sometimes I'd get mild shocks when I touch the corner of the phone, totally not at the cable jack area - not sure what it's called.

I previously also had a lot of problems connecting my phone to wifi or 3G (wifi mostly). It would show that it's connected (it has the wifi bar thingy at the top) but in the settings page there would be no connection.

Just wondering if anyone could help? I've only had it for 2.5 months and it's giving me a headache. I believe I had posted somewhere on hardwarezone regarding 2 other issues too (blue screen and cable problems) :(

@fade_white I was thinking of exchanging but just wanted to check on the forum first. Any idea whether they'll make me pay for the new set? Cause if I remember correctly my parents got the contract where they pay extra $10 each month for some sort of warranty in case something happens I can pay a sum of money to get new one, though I would assume that's for accidental damage not defects. Most likely will call starhub to check!

@fade_white @lee-turbo thanks for the responses. I've called starhub and the guy said it's most likely device problem but can't tell if I need to pay extra charges for a replacement set or not. I'm got the phone under my dad's contract so I'm not sure if there's warranty or not. Do all newly contracted phones have the one year warranty? (Starhub, more specifically) I remember my 4S had it though not sure if any of their policies have changed over these few years.

Now I have to go down to Plaza Sing for them to check. I do hope they give a new set and not a refurbished one for the replacement. How irritating. :mad:

What I'm worried is this doesn't happen all the time so idk how they're gonna check it. I have screenshots of the connection problems but the electric shocks... well, hard to check. Up till now there was no predictable pattern of when I will get shocked. :(

I'm hoping the warranty won't be void because I have a tiny scratch. I don't think I have applecare cause got it from Starhub. Anyway my parents got the phone so idk about what warranties they got besides the extra $10 per month thing.

Went down to A.Labs they refused to change and insist is software issue because of app crashes so any issue can happen. Including electric shocks. They say if the issues are not present at the time of inspection they will not change it for me. All they did was do a reformat. :mad:

Call apple again and try to get a case id before you go down.

I have a case id but because I have some many issues, the case id was written under "Randomly disconnecting from wifi" title. They have no access to the transcript so they can't see any of the other issues I raised inside the chat even though I have the transcript that Apple emailed me after the chat ended.

Hmm I'll try calling Apple again tomorrow since the hotline doesn't operate on Sunday. The safety issue is most important due to the shocks and it seems A.Lab fails to even consider their customers' safety. Will probably head down to QCD tomorrow. What a waste of time *smh*

@interguy moisturizer? why? :s11:

Anyway I doubt I'll go back to A.Labs. Right when my mother asked the CSO "what happens if you use the phone, get a big enough electric shock & die", she immediately pointed to the abusive sign thing. Since when did asking the CSO to put themselves in my shoes become an abusive thing?! I totally cannot accept their service. Will try QCD and see how.
