so glad i found this thread!
my starhub bill cycle starts every 14th july. I just check my data usage via starhub app and got a shock of my life. already used 5gb and its only half a month.
the breakdown shows that i use close to 900mb on some days. (!?)
i only use facebook, instagram everyday and auto wifi when im home.
just called up my telco and the guy says their data shows that my i have heavy usage on my icloud.
but i cant even connect to my icloud on my phone..

the weird data usage starts from 18th july.. anyone the same?

why dont u all go to settings > cellular to check the culprit?

I would advise you to check your phone usage every day to monitor your device usage pattern. To avoid having the shock of your life when you see your bill. Seems the newer iPhone is really data hungry as compared to the iPhone 4 days.

Would be great if some bro here who has both the 6 and 6 plus comment if both phones data usage pattern is the same.

After I limit my usage on Facebook, Instagram, etc, clock less than 2gb per month. (Eg check Facebook 3 times or less using data and try use Facebook with wifi at home or free public wifi)

Use to clock in high data in the past, now I will always us WIFI as first option. It is a good way to reduce data usage for important time later..

Yeah I've noticed my data increasing since I got the 6+. There was even a day where I didn't do anything and all of a sudden 2.4gb was used for nothing

Go to settings > Cellular & enable ONLY those apps that you need to use frequently; disable other apps so that you can only use them when on WIFI.

Telcos here deliberately do that, hopefully u'll exceed the free data limit and pay additional charges.

wish to enquire with all the 6+ users , Does ur 6+ drain data that much?

for me, recent months data usage has been super high, 4-5gb++

my usage: fb, twitter,instagram, carousell

i don't play online games on phone also.

thats why i don't understand how come the data usage is so high, for this month, about 17days i already hit 4gb already.

PLS help

dont use the facebook app on 4g, just use safari to surf facebook when on 4g.

this facebook app jiak alot of data because they always load the photo as HD.

i have the same problem on my ip5. Its right after i updated to ios 8.4 (July period) then the data spiked a lot. 7gb and 11gb for the past 2 mths. Googled a bit and saw that it's an ios software issue. I also reset my cellular data stats and tested the data usage. Surfed net on safari for 1 min took 80mb! Ridiculous.

Tried to restore phone but also same problem. Need to wait till ios9 to release and install, hopefully can solve this bug. In the meantime, call ur telco to waive the excess data charges cos i did.

if i'm not wrong, reading list downloads pages/content in e background. if u've enabled "use cellular" it would explain y yr safari uses so much cellular data.

my cellular data is off for reading list. actually it's not just safari using so much data. i used LINE for a few messages and it took 6mb.
