Iphone battery replacement go where?

Let say battery and price are the same. Which one will u choose to have ur batt replace? Apple store or ah beng store? I scare ah beng no skill. Anyone got experience?

I used to repair my iphone 5s and 6s too. But the phones these days, including the 13 pro max that i’m using now, got the water proof seal. So once you remove, you can’t glue it back properly unless you got the proper tools. The DIY toolkit is just sufficient for you to pry the phone open. Risky though

With these tools, i do not need to manually pry the Display Screen with force. Pour some alcohol at the side with the tool and the screen will auto pop.

But you are right on the waterproof glue. But if you go ahbeng shop to repair, they may not have the machine to test the waterproof.

There's no water proof phones, only water resistant. Once open, impossible to retain the same sealing as original

they even tell me incase got taiji they will need to remove my screen protector.. but after i got back my phone, they never remove...

To access the battery they heat up the phone and then use suction to pull the screen up from the body. I have DIY repaired a couple of Pixels, 1 of them when I pulled up the screen protector was the only 1 the suction cup pulled up. But mostly the screen protector will remain stuck on the screen unless the screen is broken or cracked.

They have to tell you this in case that situation happens.

Recently, I repaired the 2x iPhone 12 and 1x iPhone 12 mini battery myself with original Apple batteries.

First, I sourced the Apple Original batteries on 闲鱼淘宝 (2nd Hand Taobao). They do sell brand new authentic batteries (Apple sealed) and second hand but original batteries. For the price point, I chose second hand original battery between 96-99% for S$15/RMB65. They do provide DIY tool kits for the repair as well.

Secondly, when the spare parts arrive in Singapore, I went Youtube to learn how to repair. They have many tutorial guide to teach you what to do. Overall, I rate the repair easy.

Thirdly, original Apple batteries (including used) allows you to run Apple post repair diagnostic to pair the battery to your device. Note that third party batteries do not have this capability.

Lastly, after repairing and running post repair diagnostic, Apple will certify it is authentic and have this repair history reflected on your device:




$15 used but original DIY vs $128 new and original Apple Store repair - I'd choose $15 DIY repair for the price point. Note that $15 is used iPhone 12 battery. For newer model, 咸鱼淘宝 sells it more expensive (e.g. iPhone 13 99% BH at $20-25 etc)

So far I only dare to repair Pixels because Google let iFixit sell the original Google waterproof adhesive …

For iPhone, they are all 3rd party, so I don’t trust.

But yeah, even though I use original, and after the surgery I put the phone under a bunch of heavy books for 24 hours for the adhesive to set in … there is no guarantee it is a good seal because I don’t have the machine to test … but I tell myself that, I already use the original adhesive and put pressure on the phone for 24 hours, if test come back not fully sealed, I take off the screen and repeat the process over again, I’m still going to do the exact same steps, so … y’know what they say … you can’t have Covid if you don’t test

My understanding though is that when you replace your battery with Apple it doesn’t reflect as Repair Record … I won’t know if your case is because you are using used battery then it shows up, or is because they changed it so as long as replaced even brand new will show in the Repair Record.

If Apple does a Whole Unit Replacement, there will be no repair record reflecting under Settings > General > About.

I did a battery replacement under Apple Limited Warranty for my current iPhone 15 Pro at the Apple Store last year and it did reflect under the Repair Record.

Oh okay … so it will show but show as “Genuine”, but if not a brand new part it will show as “Used” like in your case instead.

Still good news, just that waterproof adhesive they don’t sell original part for repair … recently got the video someone in China upgraded their 256gb iPhone 17 Pro Max to 1tb, their waterproof adhesive tested pass … for me if there is no way for me to test, the least I feel comfortable with is an original 1 so even if it will fail the test, I can tell myself that even if I redo, I’m still going to do the same steps so LLST that’s the best I can do.

Went to apple store at orchard to change my iPhone battery, they told me to remove the iphone passwords.....wtf.....all my Edison pics will be known.....end up resetting my iphone......simple changing of batteries must also remove passwords?! Then where is the security for customers? Can't they use diagnostic mode to access the iPhone?!?......or should let us buy the batteries from store!!

If it is just a battery replacement, it will likely to conclude within 2 hours on the same day.

Apple Store will lend you a loaner phone if the situation warrants your device to send it for Apple Depot for further inspection.
