The latest (near) victim (as of 04/05/11)

Hi, I think I'm the latest one got cheated by him

This time the IC is S8404580B, same name, same birth date
Email tzaichiunited@yahoo.com
Same trick, ipad 2 64Gb + 3G. Told me that he'll courier it to me first as he cannot wait until he's back to Spore from biz trip, and that he needs money for his cancer mom.

For even more convincing, he said he brought the set together so that he can sell it there, but dealer paid so low.

Finally he said he'll send me the shipping receipt and IC (I started wondering why send me the IC???). Once he got my address, he started saying wow last time I worked at this place near your home blah blah. very friendly and convincing.

This morning got some one called me in the morning (western voice somehow ha ha). (****, never seen courier calling me from overseas???) to confirm my address and deliver time +63 927 673 5816

Finally, mid afternoon he sms me (using singtel web mes), telling me he needs money urgently blah blah asking me to send 350 first. Even tell me the closing time of JP post office which matched with my working hour blah blah.

I wanted to check him out but I was in a meeting, so I said okie. Fortunately I forgot to transfer him. Later he urged me again but i was at home, so I asked my friend to help me to do that. Fortunately again, they asked for the sender's IC, which supposed to be mine. So she could not do it.

Then just now, he sms me again, crying out for $$$ blah blah, then I said ok tomorrow morning I'll do. Then my wife feel suspicious and check the internet.

Now I'm here telling you the story, and feeling so lucky. My lesson is that no matter how careful you are, how experienced you think you are, you can still be cheated by a good social trick.

Thanks to all the previous victims who voiced out and helped me from being cheated.

Yeah, think I should buy Toto today :D

Anyway, I think the rule of thumb is "never put deposit or anything, before you get the goods" and the best practice is always COD.

RaDiCSpHeRe: The scammer is using a tactic to scare you, and s/he won't go to that length to harm you. If you still don't feel safe, please log a report with the police so that your incident is logged.

The NRIC is fake. Do u think he will so stupid to post his own NRIC for police to catch him? Anyway he is based in Manila, so difficult to catch him also.

looks like this is one of the rare times where a scammer won and walk away scott free leaving behind a wake of angry people.

Bottom line, it's better to buy from a reputable shop instead of these creppy crawlies (cockroaches).

Remember, if it is too good to be true, better double check the offerer's credentials B 4 you part with your money.
