Technically I believe the bokeh shift, tap to wake screen, swipe gestures can be done on the iPhone 8 Plus as well.
It just writing of the ios software.

Just that its not economical for them to do that.
Else we can do so much more on the older phone which are still very powerful including iphone 7

Gesture and live bokeh adjustment not possible. Gesture because iPhone 7 Plus doesn't support 120Hz controller which makes the gesture ticks while A10 processor doesn't have enough power in the neural core to achieve live bokeh.

Anyone has any idea why teleco subsidise XR more than pixel 3? the difference in their oem price is $20, but for the starhub plan that i use, it is almost $170 more

Because xr sell better. With or without promo, pixel phone is hard to sell

Telcos main concern is to get more people to sign contracts with them. Or maybe just because apple give them better price

Apple devices tends to sell well than Android

Very grey area this one. Android tends to have more hardware production through their partnering hardware OEMs and they have a diverse lineup ie Galaxy S and J series and etc. But how many of those production units end up in the hands of the consumers? How many are rotting at the shelves? These numbers I don’t think we know yet.

Maybe it is because iPhone margins are higher?

Most probably people all more keen to get an iPhone than others, that why telco subsidise more to retain customers.
