Why would be a mistake? It only benefits the consumers like you given a Hardware that holds nothing back at a slightly cheaper price with only a few costly but hardware differences like the lack of the expensive OLED screens and the lack of another camera module. Until it is confirmed, they might cut some more cost in using a slightly slower flash storage but that needs to be tested.

Don’t need to worry about Apple. As Long as people buy any of their products they already made profit.

Yes, correct. Whether Apple products sell good or not, it is purely apple’s concern.

Consumers just need to prepare their pockets. Haha.

I’m buying XR cause of the colour.

I always wanted a black for iPhone X series.

Earlier this year I bought a silver colour X, I made the decision for so long if I should buy black or silver, but I feel that silver looks more premium so I go for silver instead.

When Xs releases, I wanted to buy a black Xs and Xs Max but then went to Apple shop, saw the gold colour is Super nice so get the gold. Of course for both Xs and Xs Max I get gold. I got the Xs Max and Xs haven’t.

This is where the XR comes in. Black and no other colour.

I thought u got note 9??

I was thinking of changing my X to XR for some reason:
1) the camera - XR is using the main camera for portrait mode, means it will get far more better portrait image quality (especially in low light), because the main lens is better than the secondary lens. I was struggling using the portrait mode on my X at night because of its the poor performance. Also, smart hdr is not available on X. This is the main reason cause I took quite some pictures of my kids, and I was not statified with the results sometimes.

2) battery life

3) Oled actually flickers. I saw on a YouTube video Oled display actually flicker like CRT even though we can’t see it with our eyes, it’s actually bad for our eyes?

Downside:
1) Image quality from Oled to LCD, which I will compare it side by side when it was launched, to see the differences.
2) Might need to top up few hundred bucks even I was able to sell my old Phone.

Any advise? Or should keep using iPhone X? Thanks

One thing with xr is that it’s aluminum. Steel casing feels a lot more premium and weight is just nice in hand.

Well I got the xs is because the xr is going to be too big for me. I’m so used to the iPhone 8 size that honestly, the xs also feels a bit big for me already

I prefer aluminium casing though. I personally prefer matte finishes over glossy finishes, haha.

Issue with iPhone steel casing is that it scratches easily and have to take extra care to maintain it. Even resting pinky finger on the bottom of the phone can cause some units to have oil stains that can’t be removed.

Iphone X to XR is a downgrade and why would u even consider XR
Iphone X is closest to the XS so ur basically saying u got xs but wants to change to xr because xs is not good enough

If ur concern about battery life, no iphones will be good for u. Theoretically xr will have better battery life because it is using 720p display
However Apple has the habit of using small battery sizes to keep its slim design
The xr likely will have the same battery life as iphone 8 which isn't that great

Great battery life u should look at android phones with 4000 / 5000 mah battery
Like mate 10/ p20 pro

From your requirements P20 pro suits u more because it has a good camera with great battery life

Or pixel 2 xl from last year

Or decently good battery life with great cameras iphone xs max or note 9

I beg to differ. Apple is claiming 90mins more of battery life on the XR compared to the 8 Plus. This should be a beast with way better battery life than the XS Max. Have to wait till phone is out to verify their claims.

Battery life is also differentiated by the screen panel, not just the display resolution. It’s more of LCD vs OLED, resulting in the battery life savings.

iPhone X to XR isn’t a complete downgrade. You do get a bigger screen, better processor & supposedly a lot better battery life.

I already mention is all theory the improve battery life because of 720p. Your apple claims this and that but in actual usage things will always be different.
x is closest to xs and do u think they will make xr to outshine and cannibalise xs?
Geek benchmark reveals not much difference between iphone x and xs soc A12
Don't pin too high hopes on xr

After the XR is launched, should be able to find it in the $1000-$1100 range on Carousell for the 64GB model. Estimate based on current pricing for the XS & XS Max. Pricing wise still a good $300-$400 difference compared to the base XS. That’s a 40% premium for smaller screen, smaller battery. Only real loss is the screen resolution & dual camera setup.

Ultimately have to look at what you’re looking for in a phone to determine what you really need.

Yes the steel band of xs and xs max makes the phone's quality feels very very premium. I use my xs max naked

Real world usage will always differ from manufacturer claims, regardless of what industry you’re looking at. However, Apple’s claims have always been a pretty reasonable estimate of real world usage.

Therefore, the battery life on the XR should definitely be substantially better than the XS & XS Max. Again, this can only be verified after the phone is launched.

The fact is that XR is already cannibalizing XS. Not the Max. The XS isn’t selling very well at all. Loads of people are waiting for the XR. Take China for example, the XR comes with dual physical SIM compared to the XS, it’ll definitely cannibalize the sale of XS based solely on this point.

Let me reiterate, improve in battery life is NOT due to screen resolution. It’s due to the the display panel. LCD vs OLED. LCD consumes less power as compared to OLED.

Apple predicts XR to sell more than XS in terms of volume. So the target is the masses

There is something called case.
That's why I never go with Apple case.

My colleague using iPhone XS without a case, and I really bow to him.
For me I cant.
Every phone I own, will have case.

No case, no use of the phone.

Yeap, there's something called case. Apple case is also a case, don't you think you're contradicting yourself there?
