Kuo Predicts 'Better Than Expected' Replacement Demand for iPhone XR, Raises Shipment Forecasts

Demand for the iPhone XR will be higher than demand for the iPhone 8 last year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reiterated in a note to investors this morning.

Kuo is predicting better than expected replacement demand for iPhone XR along with improved supply starting in October, leading him to revise his predicted shipment estimates.

Apple is now expected to ship 36 to 38 million iPhone XR units in the fourth quarter of 2018, up 10 percent from an original estimate of 33 to 35 million units.

For anyone that is on the fence about the XR.

Believe it or not XR and XS Max has the same resolution in points as the XS Max.
Points are how an app decides how to display content, so if you pull up the same app on both devices, they'll both show exactly the same amount of stuff.

The XS Max will show that content at 3x instead of 2x, making it significantly sharper, and also about 6% bigger. But both are Plus-class phones software-wise.

XS: Points of 812x375 with 3x scaling to render at Screen resolution of 2436x1125
XS Max: Points of 896x414 with 3x scaling to render at Screen resolution of 2688x1242

TL : DR There is really no need to worry about the resolution of the XR on paper. It is as large as the XS max

i'm going to "upgrade" from a iPhone X to a iPhone XR, and I don't really care what others saying if its a downgrade. OLED or LCD don't make a difference for me, a bigger screen with better battery life and a better processor is all i need. Camera? I don't take much photos no big deal.

People here can come in here and diss the phone and say that its an overpriced phone with 720p display, so what? true apple fans won't care about your worthless opinions. already ordered the cover from Qoo10. Cant wait !

You’re not alone. I’m doing the same.

It really depends on what people prioritise. I’m changing purely for the new sensor at the back. Don’t care for the SOC upgrade. Don’t use portrait mode often either.

For people that watch movies on their phones which I don’t, the X/Xs having the OLED screen is too good to pass up.

Guys, just go for what you prefer. You’re not buying a phone to please anyone else but you.

I bring 2 phones out Everyday.
I change every week. Change as in not buy and sell.

Like last week I brought S9 and Note9 to work.
This week going to bring iPhone 8 and 8 Plus to work. Thursday bring iPhone 8 and Note9 to work as I need my Note9 for note taking in class this coming Thursday night.

Wah then how you keep your apps and files all in sync? All uploaded to the cloud? Google and Apple cloud services don’t talk to each other that well leh.
