Subjective answer. Some people have, some people don't.

I had individual lens protector but I removed. Now I have a one piece one.

One thing is protecting your lens, another is protect it from lint. I can't stand lint or dust trapped in between the lenses & have to clean it with a brush

I use paint brush to clean lint, if you don't put lens protector u can clean whenever u are back home haha!
