wapiang, your iPhone cost like 1.7k-2k+, you dare to use those $3 cable to charge your phone uh wdf lol, later phone got problem, damage your phone or cable melted or what, then kpkb say why save on cheapo cable
2 things I won't save, the charging adaptor and the charging cable, need to get good grade/original kind.
The cable itself are just a few strands of copper. That is how it has been for many wirings.
What matters is how much strands of copper does it have? The more wattage u want to pass through it, the more strands u need to prevent stress on the individual strands that will cost it to catch fire on the parts with low burning point as a result of the strands overheating.
This kind of max 20W to 30W charge don't need that much but the more it has, the safer. But it will be thicker. Even earphones typically have 8 strands. And I'm talking about those audiophile headphone cable ones.
Copper is actually cheap. So $3 for a bunch of copper strands is actually the proper asking price. U r all too accustomed to Apple's 100x price increase where they earn 99% of ur money for themselves vs the cost of their cable which is maybe at most, 1-3%? Why do u think they are so rich?
From waiting for their competitors to flood the market with the new technology like behind the screen camera and then wait a few years till the prices of in-screen camera to drop due to many manufacturers producing such hardware and then come and buy and use the same hardware at a cheaper cost due to high production rate of the said hardware. Thus, they can earn more from ur phone vs the cheap components. And don't say their software engineers are expensive. Go have a look at their salaries. It's also low vs market rate. They say that it's a privilege to work for Apple. So it's either u accept this low pay or we'll replace u with someone else who is grateful to work for a company like Apple which is aplenty. Thus, again, maximizing the profits for the higher ups at Apple. Making the rich richer, while the poor, poorer due to them paying for the high costs for brand and low cost to their engineers and the manufacturing parts so they'll have more money to themselves.
Anyway back to charging things, what mostly matters is the charging adaptor itself. U need to make sure they are quality components to again, prevent it from short-circuiting or overheating and catching fire. That is just as important, if not more, than the strands of cable in which Apple already charges ur phone so slowly with
