usually the phone case lip is slightly higher than the camera bump so its protects the camera.

Depend on what case u use actually. But most case should protect your camera. Unless u sibeh suay till u drop your phone camera down & somehow land on something small pebble that directly hits your camera lens.

I have one on mine. I not pro photographer so can't really tell the difference. Additional ease of mind when I place my phone down. Totally personal preference tbh.
