If it's the Apple leather cases from the last few series then forget it. They're awful and patina badly which leads to poor value at $89 too. One can get far better leather cases from Andar/Mujjo with that price tag..

Each to their own ba.. It's true that last few leather cases ain't the best. But all cannot beat finewoven

Nope, but he has more to lose than you so i will believe him more. The diff two of you describe are too far apart. You said non existent which is as good as none. He said the magnet is there. I went to try, it's able to grip to what i put behind. Technically, if you are paying the price of a certain leather case, the Finewoven is actually not bad.

i dont really care about resale value when i change new iphone.. either pass to my family members or sell to ah beng shops/carousell if price is ok.

If it’s priced the same as their leather cases, no it will not be considered by many (let’s see whether if this woven material will be in the future line ups).

If it’s in between leather and silicone, maybe.

Either way, it will not be a “go to” choice for majority with the price and material durability. At least the leather one gives a “premium” look/feel.

I think if you're comparing to one of the strongest MagSafe cases this year (i.e synthesis) then no other MagSafe case will be strong enough.. In the video, the FineWoven was able to gently pick up his block of MagSafe charger.. that alone means the magnet is easily stronger than more than 50% of the other cases out there..

Yes overpriced but the durability is far better than 'finewoven'. Objectively among all the 3 overpriced products, finewoven has the worst durability. Comparing with leather, yes it can get scratched and stained but they looked still 'ok' over time.

I think no point trying so hard to defend this material. Only time will tell if the product/material is 'not bad' or a failure if we still see Apple promoting finewoven for their next few years' line ups (silicone and leather has been around for many years).

I’m using reasonable price casing from taobao.
I can afford to change and change over times without feeling a pinch.

Yup Tee's base is sort of my benchmark. But definitely there are alot of cases that can lift up his Nomad base. Idk about the statistics you claim that the FW has magnets stronger than 50% but i feel it is rather a bold claim Anyway if the srp is half of what of what it cost now probably the backlash won't be as bad..

Anyway I'm sure my $10 ugreen clear case can lift Tee's Nomad base up as well.. So there is more (cases) than meets the eye..

I can afford to change and change over times without feeling a pinch.

Taobao cases quality improved alot over the years. Ugreen clear case is technically a taobao case since they are CN based. And costing only $8-12 with magsafe really is a no brainer be it for a temp first case or using long term.

Apple Silicone cases has been around since the birth of christ (Apple) It is really a hit or miss. I know ppl who buy yearly when they upgrade yearly despite it degrading/scuffing pretty quickly.

FW receive alot of backlash prolly cuz it is a new product and it "replaces" the conventional Apple leather cases. If Apple simply just released it without removing the leather & place it at a lower price point. It would (potentially) still be a decent case.

I saw some ppl debating in MacRumors about the wording that Apple used their statement.

Some argued that Apple meant FineWoven as a direct replacement for leather cases.

Others just understand it as leather cases being discontinued and FineWoven is the new option in Apple case lineups. It's quite funny seriously their argument
