iRobot Scooba experience

So cleaning strategy is to segment into areas, done with 1 and then proceed to another. Kind of a tiring if u have to cover more areas, like living room and all the bedrooms... if only we can have a scooba thats capable of doing that fully automated...

The scooba is, sadly, a 'chionger' too... as it doesnt know when to stop! Roomba can still be kept to end at 60min. Scooba will keep cleaning til the solution finished or get stuck somewhere! Mine got stuck to the drain hole in my bathroom n under the door! If you do not hear the noise, it is stuck or no more solution!

Heard tat the new generation scooba or roomba can remember where it cleaned b4 and do not need to repeat over n over again...


So, the only way is to monitor it. You go n see the kitchen, if it is clean enough, stop the 'Maria', carry her to the bathroom or BEDROOM n ask her to WORK til her energy is gone or no more juice or til u r satisfied!

I dont know how long, but it is quite fast, i juz let it worked while I rested!

You can let it roams your whole house (provided it is FLAT all over) n it will juz mop n mop. Tats why i get a 380 (more HP to cover more area)! However, IFF the sccoba is more advanced (which means it will cost more), we can feed it the house plan, set the area & time to clean, it will then use its cameras n multiple sensors to finish the job. Of cos, it muz be able to hv midway refuelling - drain the dirty water, fill in more juice, recharging, and do a little bit of self-cleaning the brush, tyres, filters, etc. A WISH LIST, indeed.

Alternately, buy a few more & let the squad do the attack instead of a lone wolf! Juz like some ppl in roombareview did!

U may be right abt getting more scoobas to do the job, but thats gona cost!!!!!! On the other hand, perhaps instead of buying a single brand new 380, go for 2 units of refurb 5800s... could be better...

This morning before going to work I started my remanufactured scooba.. when I first turned it on, got the error beep and cannot start.. scare me.. then I remembered I forgot to prime the pump

Well it completed a cleaning cycle in about 50minutes. When it finished the power and clean lights are blinking and it beeps 3 times. Does any of your scooba beep when it finishes? I cant find anything in the manual about this

Yes, it does make a kind of sound when it finish and the "Check Tank" light is turn on.

Thats good to hear worry got problem with it. I have white tiles and they don't look dirty. Surprising that the water is so black after cleaning.

So far my mod still ok.. just that the capacitor is a bit tall and i cant close the power supply properly. So there is tiny little gap. Other than that.. roomba still alive and charging

I managed to ship the roomba battery alone via vpost! It arrived this morning. Vpost did send me email saying i cant ship battery... i emailed back arguing this was NiMH & not LiON as listed in the list!!! I didnt get any reply fr them but somehow i found that they matched my invoice & the batt went thru! it is beside me now!

However,batt for roomba can be purchased fr gkrobot for $118. save all the hassle with vpost!!!

I ordered scooba 5800 + battery. Vpost email said don't want to deliver bec the battery is considered as loose battery.

How you email them back?

I got my scooba on its 2nd mission in my bedroom.

Black dirty water again. This is really money worth spent.

Problems
1) Too small tank. 5m X 5m each time.

2) Cannot clean 2cm within side of wall.

But, still a real piece of gem. My feet is happy.

Problem finding chlorox substitute in supermarkets

I dont seem to be able to find it in cold storage and NTUC....did i miss it or there's special places to get the kiwi-clean brand...anyone knows where to get? Will be glad if u can upload a picture of how it looks like...Thanks !

So, using Kiwi Clean, how many oz did you pour into scooba?

Vinegar use 2 oz.
Clorox use 1.5oz

Use a little first n gradually increase til u r satisfy.

eg. .75cl, 1cl, 1.5cl, etc.

Note: if there is no solution coming out of the scooba, use the pump to prime it! Otherwise, my maria will juz do a 'dry' run!!!

Qs for those with a Roomba (+ homebase) and a Scooba. With yr Roomba docked in its homebase, does the Scooba bumped into the Roomba during the floor cleaning process or does the homebase virtual wall signal keeps the Scooba away?

Haha that's great. I just tried out the scooba with the roomba docked.. the scooba does knock the roomba. but its so light that, the roomba barely moved hehe

Your scooba is the 5800 model? What abt the 380 with its higher speed? BTW, how r u using yr Scooba? Do u use it to clean the whole house or only for specific areas? How much area can it effectively cover for 1 fully charged battery?
