i find the online sales by amazon and lnt quite deceptive.

on both sites the scooba 5800 was advertised as having original price of $399 and then slashed down to present price, however its original price from irobots is actualy $299. :s8:

you'd have thought you were purchasing the higher end scooba350 which actually sells for $399 on irobot.

Thanks for the advice. I'm worried that doing it without segmentation will cause problems since Roomba might not be able to estimate the room size.

For me, as my place is quite big, ~143Sqm, I normally uses Roomba on each area seperately. I find that it is cleaner this way. The rooms are manually timed while my living are blocked with virtual wall and closed doors and I will activate it when I go out. Come back, floor clean clean liao! :s13:

Found this iclebo brand robot vacuum on youtube, design quite similar to the new roomba 5xx series.

What is the SUCTION POWER of a roomba? Can't find it in the iRobot homepage. Is it in the manuals?

:s22: No is not there because according to irobot, cleaning power is not equal to suction power.

The actual suction power is not stated in the manual... its also not very important for the Roomba in its application context. Looking at the design, the main counter rotating brushes will pick up most of the larger debris in the cleaning path. The vacuum is behind to pick up the finer dust left behind. Also noticed that the vacuum path is only a thin strip, it does not require huge suction power to be effective. Think of it like sucking through a small thin straw and a large one. :)

Buy scooba 380, get free red roomba + free shipping (within USA) offer is still available.

Since no 20% discount code now, this offer looks better than 10% discount.

Good 4 U... a wise choice indeed! :s12:

Eh... u only get the transformer when yr items arrive??! Think u better get it B4 they arrive.. u wouldnt want to further delay getting yr new maids to work 4 u do u??!

Remember to get a slightly bigger rating transformer if u want to connect both devices to one transformer... a 100/120W should be fine.

I totally agree! Quick! get out now and get that transformer! You still have to wait 16hrs for the initial charge.. and I personally can't wait another second hfter 16hrs to run it :s13:

I guess you need to buy 2 transformers. :s13:

a 100w newstar 100v to 220v converter cost abt $24+ at home-fix, Sim Lim tower maybe slightly cheaper.

There's a 13% discount code for vpost now, will post the code when I reached home tonight.

If the 2 bots are at the same location for charging, 1 transformer can do the job. Just need to get a 2/3 way adapter. A word about the 2/3 way adapters, make sure u get the US plug multi-adapters and a secure one (so that it doesnt wobble when u plug it into the transformer), i.e. UK 3 pin type into the step down transformer, output to 2 pin US type (look carefully, the US adapter 2 pins are different from our local 2 pins... its bigger).

Thanks for your help :)

I only have a 12% discount code if I use my UOB card to pay for the shipping charges...
