iRobot Scooba experience

The first question and the last statement made doesn't cohere and that already implies there is still some sort of risks involved. despite the assurance on the surface, there are still stories of scammers and shipment cockups amidst all the ebay wheeling and dealing, this is a fact. if not, we wouldnt have heard of buyers having made payments in goodwill but no or lousy shipment received or them taking forever to come. instead of convincing me they are more credible, the sellers are signaling to me anyone of them can be an even bigger question marks lurking behind a name. so what they are big names, they are just names. i mean how does anyone sell something thats more than the usual authorized capacity but at the same or lower price? that dont make sense. and yes they just only claim its not original and its diy remake, so its buyer beware. who knows what happens next? would they bother if my equipment is damaged or burnt? as i said, if i have to pay up to hundreds of US dollars to take on that and other risks, i rather look for more reasonable alternatives. Originals would be the best but i am not saying i wont consider others. i said more reasonable alternatives. personally i still find cash deal upon delivery is still the best and safest option, takes the 'if' out of buying a convenience (not paying for an inconvenience!). by that I mean paying hundreds for a robot and tracking it to finally arrive is already exhausting, then still have to save pennies by running detours to 'freehold markets' for unauthorized remakes? let me think about that again.

in any purchase which you make, there is always a 'caveat emptor' tag attached. even if it's local does not necessary mean they will always be liable. example lehman brothers. it's sold locally with big names supporting.

you basically have a distrust and are too kiasu, thus resulting in unwanting to make this purchase. but there are those who have made countless of purchases from ebay and other online shops. so it's basically their word vs yr own mentality.

It is a China made machine. Forget about getting this, roomba is way better. If you visit Alibaba beware of scammer who sell Roomba at unbeliveable prices. I can gaurantee you none of the China and Inodensia suppliers are real.

I agreed ! this is true. If it is too cheap to be real, then it is.

zerenelee, what Junbooo says is true. Almost 90% of the sellers in ebay US are sincere and you can trust them. The important thing is that you must ask questions if in doubt. I do have a number of bad experiences with some of the sellers but it all got resolved without any bad feelings ( most of the time it was not the sellers' fault either ). Eventually I got my money back from Paypal. So Paypal is safe. I still trust sellers in ebay more than those in Alibaba.....

you are entitled to make your own judgement. I mine.

I dont find 'caveat emptor' as simple an excuse as you do to conveniently generalize all sellers under one single category, and that is whatever happens its always the buyer's problem. i find too irresponsibly casual. unreliable ebay sellers are still unreliable ebay sellers.

and please do not pass judgement on or attempt to again categorize others who happen not to share your point of view. anyone can make the same negative comments about you as you to them. you might find me too cautious. i might find you exceedingly foolhardy.

thanks for revealing your fair share of bad experiences. so we agreed we do now and then run into them when dealing on ebay or other sites when we pay in advance and somehow the shipment gets messed up. i know you said you got your money back like someone else mentioned but i mean its a fact we do run into problems on ebay. for the time being, i will prefer to stick to originals and cash on delivery anyday.

Not really, because forwarders such as vpost prohibit shipment of batteries as stated in their shipping policies.

is there a wet+dry version of the irobot?

btw which is the cheapest site to get it on. of course, the most trustable one too.. local's 1k+ is freaking expensive

hmm i can get scooba but its like vacuum a small amt of dust n hair n then off to clean or mop yr floor. i prefer to vacuum first with handheld (havent get roomba) vacuum then run scooba.

anyone ordered from US recently where they give out the 9 bottles scooba juiceeee. i want to place order but i am scare of $400+ shipping charges Or should i use CGW since they can do repackage.

Actually you dont really need the scooba juice. I tried local cleaning solution and it works. That would save you alot of shipping cost.

scooba juice is the solution developed by clorox for irobot scooba. It is not sold locally only in the states in 32oz bottle. Btw when you purchased scooba, it comes with it in 8oz bottle.

I use my Scooba on my marble and it works fine. This is stated in the iRobot website "Scooba is designed to clean all sealed hard floor surfaces, including tile, linoleum, marble and sealed hardwood—wherever you would typically use a standard mop.

Scooba is not recommended for use on unfinished or unsealed hard floor surfaces, carpet, rugs or waxed floors. These surfaces may be damaged by water. (An unsealed floor does not have a coat of polyurethane to protect the sub-flooring from water damage). Additionally, Scooba is not for use with laminate flooring, which may be damaged by wet cleaning methods. "


Take note that if you are using vinegar as the solution, do not use it on marble. I saw somewhere in the forum that it would damage your flooring.

lol, thought you are septical to online purchase with tracking? Forget about it, shipping will cost you $100+ at least for the liquid and there's one who pay $400+ for shipping together with the robots. Not worth the gamble to ship that.
