Lesson learnt: never send anything overseas via Singpost (especially to US) if timing is critical. I sent a Christmas gift to a friend in US last Christmas via Singpost registered mail. The Singpost staff assured me that the item will arrive within 7 to 8 days. I sent the item 9 days before Christmas. My friend received the item just the day before New Year!!!

wiseone, I think shd say never send anything URGENT with Singpost, cos comparatively to ship overseas, their rates are still cheaper than Fedex, DHL, etc. :)

But I heard that Borderlinx will open up the package to check? Also, Irobot got battery inside... will that be an issue?
Anybody successfully shipped irobot over?

Ya Borderlinx open up parcel to check whats inside the box. This is confirmed. I think Juboo didnt pay attention to the tape so he said no. They open up to check BUT they wont help u repackage. They tell u, they dont provide the services.

Yes there are borderlinx tape around big boxes but I don't think they open up. I have shipped many items with them but the smaller box they never tape. I have ship roomba battery recently and I ask them to put it as parts instead of battery to prevent unecessary problem.

They cut open the merchant tape and then retape with theirs. U are lucky that they helped u with that. Earlier i checked n they said they dont ship battery alone (ie battery in a box) with some other parcel boxes

You ask the seller to name it as toy, parts or whatever you like. They never open the box, trust me.

Hi has anyone got a Scooba that can advise me what's the diff between the 350 and 380 model.

I was thinking of shipping it from US. Will it be subject to GST? Anyone does it and know the total shipping cost.

Many thanks :)

Hi, Just used a scooba 380. Finds that it is not as intelligent as a roomba.

I have a couple of questions regarding 380:

1) Where to buy additional battery?
2) Where to buy the rest of the accessories?
3) Are the following steps good for prolonging the batt?
a) Charge and ensure a green light before usage
b) After 1 cycle, let the battery cool down and charge up the batt.
i) If using external charger, charge no more than 3.5 hrs
ii) If using scooba to charge, charge until green light.
c) If desire for another cleaning cycle, use another batt

Hi,
for 3)
I think your suggestion is good, for Nickel-Metal-Hydride batteries
- After full charge, the charger usu should be in trigger charge mode. advisable to off the charger as trigger mode may result in overcharging, shorten the battery lifespan.
- avoid heat, store the battery in cool place when not in use.

Hi irobotists,

Need some additional info, as my parents having sinus dust allergy problem, I am considering a Scooba 380 for frequent wet floor cleaning.

cannot finish the 400 pages, only managed to go thru 30 pages

Pls see if you guys can help me on the questions:

a) some of the forummers mentioned Scooba 380 require more "attention", may I know what are the required attention?

b) I read some reviews complaining that if it is placed in a small room with full tank, it will not stop until consuming the tank. is it true?

b) does it have a scheduler? how does a scheduler work?

c) can Scooba 380 finish a HDB 5 floor flat floor space in a single charge?

d) do I need to do maintenance after 30-45min of run?

e) any idea how come a Roomba is "smarter" even though they came from irobot?

f) what are the accessories I should get?

Thanks in adv.

irobot 530

hi,

newbie here . wanted to ask if you would pay USD190(nett of credit discounts from drugstore.com) for irobot 530 series? many of you seem to own 550/560. other than the scheduling option that 530 does not have, does it make 530 any less inferior? advice pls :)

Change water, clean tank, filter etc after EACH usage (recommended). Water Tank esp as it will stink overnight

b) I read some reviews complaining that if it is placed in a small room with full tank, it will not stop until consuming the tank. is it true?

ya. because if its only within the small room, it will just clean n clean until no clean water or no battery

b) does it have a scheduler? how does a scheduler work?

dont have. scheduler i think its like u set when to let it run.

c) can Scooba 380 finish a HDB 5 floor flat floor space in a single charge?

i use 1 single charge to clean 2 areas which is 1 third of a 5room. I can use 1 cleaning cycle to clean my tiny kitchen. i think thats why i find it very clean. i dont have time to move it ard. so i prefer to do it room by room and cycle by cycle.

d) do I need to do maintenance after 30-45min of run?

u need to at least change water. if filter etc area is dirty, its best to wash the dirts off too

e) any idea how come a Roomba is "smarter" even though they came from irobot?

Roomba goes to a base to charge itself if it has home base. SCooba cannot. DIY charging

f) what are the accessories I should get?

Battery. Other than that, maybe the soft bumper to protect yr furniture. the rest still okay. maybbe brushes but i think thats abt at least 8mths issue from now

wheels might get wear out sooner too due to heavier usage. maybbe 6-8mths can change

According to specs, 530 cleans 3 rooms and 560 does 4 rooms.

The latest 531 comes only with a 1800 mAh Nicd battery while the 561 comes with a 2200 mAh Nicd.

The box will still indicates 530/560.

You can get it at Sim Lim Tower. Alternatively some of the DIY shops also carry it. I am using Newstar NF-100 (100W). One for my Scooba and one for Roomba. So far use for the past 3 over years no problem.

It is advisable to keep roomba charge in the docking station 24/7. I would advise you to modify the charger as transformer itself consume electricity on it's own.

I can help you to do the modification. Please contact me at 81254240 if you are interested.

wannabel, the 530 does not have the light house technology. Anyway, iRobot removes this feature on the new 560. It really depend if you need the light house.
