a) some of the forummers mentioned Scooba 380 require more "attention", may I know what are the required attention?

Change water, clean tank, filter etc after EACH usage (recommended). Water Tank esp as it will stink overnight

b) I read some reviews complaining that if it is placed in a small room with full tank, it will not stop until consuming the tank. is it true?

ya. because if its only within the small room, it will just clean n clean until no clean water or no battery

b) does it have a scheduler? how does a scheduler work?

dont have. scheduler i think its like u set when to let it run.

c) can Scooba 380 finish a HDB 5 floor flat floor space in a single charge?

i use 1 single charge to clean 2 areas which is 1 third of a 5room. I can use 1 cleaning cycle to clean my tiny kitchen. i think thats why i find it very clean. i dont have time to move it ard. so i prefer to do it room by room and cycle by cycle.

d) do I need to do maintenance after 30-45min of run?

u need to at least change water. if filter etc area is dirty, its best to wash the dirts off too

e) any idea how come a Roomba is "smarter" even though they came from irobot?

Roomba goes to a base to charge itself if it has home base. SCooba cannot. DIY charging

f) what are the accessories I should get?

Battery. Other than that, maybe the soft bumper to protect yr furniture. the rest still okay. maybbe brushes but i think thats abt at least 8mths issue from now

wheels might get wear out sooner too due to heavier usage. maybbe 6-8mths can change

Hi Laneige, Thanks for the info!

hi,

just to check , how u guy import the irobot from USA?
i tried Vpost, they stop me from import this. Maybe they just found out got battery on it.

Is there other fowarder able to bring in?

You can use Borderlinx or Comgateway. Your item already with Vpost? If yes, you will need to pay a fee for them to redeliver to either of them.

hi juboo/ronnie/pandatales,

pardon me if newbie asks too many qns...

1) why is it advisable to charge 24/7? isnt it very electricity consuming?
2) any recs for the sim lim shop, how much does the newstar nf-100 cost?

lastly to letdoit - i am using borderlinx to help import the 530 over. you may like to know that borderlinx includes insurance coverage, whereas vpost provides optional insurance at $18. borderlinx is more efficient as well.

So does it same as Vpost? Register first, then email to them said the item is coming etc. email them ebay receipt, then payment by credit card and ok?

Thanks. look like everyone using Borderlinx now.
By the way, is it ebay is cheapest?
I found some China website selling USD$150~200 but must buy 10pcs.
Funds transfered and no paypal. Anyone dare to try?
if transfer and they don't ship out, does it mean $$$ fly?

letdoit,

NiMH battery has a self discharge rate that is much faster than normal alkaline batteries (also to NiCD). In fact, at "room temperature", it will discharge a few percent PER DAY. Note that although they do not need to be fully discharged before recharging, they do have life span, approximately 400-600 charge cycles. So the trick is really how to reduce the charge cycles to increase their life.

Keeping them charged may be one of the ways but like what you said, it will consume electricity. Although the amount is not significant but it is still a waste of energy. Another way is to store them charged at lower temperature to slow down their discharge rate ( freezer ?? I was told it could hold 90% of charge for a full month. You can try but please let your mum/wife knows before they throw you out of the house ). Note, if you really do, please bring them back to room temperature before using them. In any case, you should charged them at least once every 3 months to prevent dry out. ( please refer to the manufacturer's recommendation ).

On the website you mentioned, anything that is too cheap to be true, it is probably true. I would advise against direct bank fund transfer, as there is no assurance that they will send the goods. Even if they do, you can't be sure it is as per described. Many of these sellers 'advertised' and uses iRobot photos, but in fact, it is only an iRobot features-equivalent. Paypal/ESCROW is a better choice. At least, you may still get back some $$. There are also local ebay sellers which you may go to. Although the price varies and may seems to be higher but at least the units are genuine and they work. Besides, you also know where to look for them :)

Just a word of caution, do make sure you know the actual sixe of your package when using Borderlinx/Vpost. Good example is Amazon who sometimes place the already big box in their own box thus increasing the size and the volumetric weight. Dont be surprise when you see the freight costs:s8:

Yes you do need to register and you will get the US address. Borderlinx is easy, no hassle to email them you have this and that. Infact they will email you telling you that there is a parcel in your suite.

Your suite number is important. Make sure your shipper state it in your address otherwise you will have to track it down with Borderlinx CS.

Letdoit, from what you describe I can tell assume you are refering to Alibaba. I would advise you Dontdoit. These Chinese sellers on alibaba are all scammer including indonesia ones. I am a victim myself and so I can guarantee you your money will be gone. After the lesson, I even went down to Medan indonesia to see them and guess what? All 38 listing on Alibaba are fake.

You can chat with them and I tell you, they are very convincing but.......... So Dontdoit.......
