so what's the shipping cost like?

Trust me, it is lighter, volumetric weight is also lesser but the shipping cost with taxes will cost more than you shipping the 330

The charging logic should be build into scooba's MCU as iRobot still reccommend the 230 to be plug in.

The comparison is a little unfair. 850sqft in 100mins so you should take 850/300 instead. Still a little far off but bear in mind this little thing is not to replace it's bigger brother. However, it should be a great tool for the kitchen and do the rooms every other day.

I don't think much people scooba their floor daily like me

Yes, it's possible the charging logic is built into MCU, but the 0.2A charging rate is a tell tale sign that it's a typical constant rate DC adaptor.
If MCU is monitoring full charge, iRobot could easily raise current to at least 0.5A and shorten charging time to ~3 hrs.

Er... how come u say 850/300? The battery will clean 150 sq ft then flat leh.
It's either 2 short 20 mins cycle, or 1 full 45 mins cycle for 150 sq ft.

There are a few physical constrains that makes it impossible for mini Scooba to achieve 850 sq ft in 100 mins. So big brother will not become obsolete.
Battery capacity & charger speed can easily tweak, robot speed maybe can overclock another 50% before it starts tumbling down cliffs due to inability to brake in time & high Centre of Gravity.
But the water tank, dead end, no way to increase water capacity. Unless some intelligent water dispensing control is used.

Once u've used a Neato, its never the same again.

1) So MUCH LESS MAINTENANCE!!! All i need to do is to empty the bin every 2-3 days. No more cleaning of brushes. No more brushing off areas where hair/dust gets trapped.

2) Never missed a single spot

3) Powerful vacuum sucks up lots of dirt... u can even feel the exhaust air 1m away!

4) Much less bumping around


Only time will tell how reliable XV-11 is but its build quality is definitely better than Roomba's IMO. Its heavier and its quicker (52mins to complete my home vs 60 mins with a Roomba). The only drawbacks are:

1) Noise. Its noticeably LOUDER

2) Absence of a virtual wall like Roomba's, so u need to paste magnetic tape if u want to keep it out of certain areas

3) The cliff sensors need a deeper depth to recognise a step as compared to Roomba (an advantage if u have light rugs in the house).


If u have no issues with the above, then its a no brainer... go for the Neato!

I am eager to try it out too, but have to leave the Little ONE charging last night and come to work today, so I will likely post a review tonight or tmr.

First impressions -

1) iRobot Scooba 230 packaging sucks BIG Time!
2) The new addition is truly very petite and looks like will take a long time to clean a big area!
3) Charging is very weird as you don't see the 'CLEAN' like blinking, only the charger light is blinking. It's almost like I think I got a faulty unit!

The taxes is really a turn off! Basket! Could have save quite a bit if iRobot price it USD$50 cheaper!

Yes, bundled charger is universal so it will work in Singapore w/o modification, but charging might be quite slow like the Mint.

I am hoping it does not take 8-10 hours like the Mint, cos' I didn't really monitor when I charge it last night. Charge was complete this morning when I woke up.

Thats a vacuum cleaner. I bought an even bigger ver of it, a cordless upright Dirt Devil vacuum (handheld cordless portion can be separated; even more powerful than the Electrolux). Sadly,the built in rechargeable batt didnt last long for mine.

if let's say we use scooba 230 in the kitchen, but do we need to sweep the floor first? kitchen floor usually is very oily, also need to remove oil first?

somehow, i feel that need to do preparation before can use the scooba 230 is like an anti-thesis le.

Wiseone bro is right. To be more precise, it's a handheld vacuum cleaner and it does look great, as it's designed by renowned industrial designer - Karim Rashid. My KONE is a bit worn out, so look quite awful already ... Here's a picture of it -

tekster bro, it's does look really stylish and there were a few times, some friends came over and wonder what that is. It was sitting pretty on my tv console, so it attracted some attention. The white one is nicer, as there is illumination with white soft glowing light.

Actually, I also had a relative over and thought my roomba in it's homebase look like some sort of a weighing scale. Luckily he never stand on it!

From what I have read about 230, it's recommended that you prep the floor before using it to mop. I guess that is the key cos' unlike other scooba, it does not have the prep stage to pick up light debris like hair. I intend to vacuum my bathroom to pick up the hair before running the 230.

sigh, that's the thing, i'm lazy to do the prep part. just want to let the robot do all the work.

it's like i would use the roomba to prep, then later use scooba to wash.

now i guess, i got to wait for roomba 130 (small mini vacuum) to do the prep, then let scooba 230 (small mini washer) do the wash. haha.....
