Whypurplishblue, any issues with yr reman Scooba from Amazon? What condition did the unit arrive in? Battery ok? Really tempted to get a reman Scooba from ecost, its affordable at US$139!!!

I thought u already have a scooba? So far no problems. The condition when I received it was great! Actually I cant tell the difference whether its new or remanufactured besides the sticker hehe..

Update: MagicClean works well with Scooba. Been using it for a few days. 2 - 3 teaspoons of MagicClean with each full tank of water will do fine. Good alternative to Scooba clorox solution since its more affordable. :)

I use rice vinegar, and yes its the same as what you see in NTUC, been using it since my scooba juice ran out. If you dun mind the smell i'd recommend using that.

I've read somewhere that vinegar will ruin marble flooring. So far haven't used magicClean, maybe will try it out next time when I finish my kiwikleen. I find scooba solution still the best, too bad about the price though.

Some insights fm local irobot distributor in comex. :s7:

DO NOT BUY AT COMEX FROM THE DISTI!

You can self import direct from US at 1/2 the price only.

Also, the Scooba that they are selling at Comex is an obsolete model.
Irobot no longer sells those 5900 models. The newer ones are blue in color.
Those in comex are white in color. First generation prototypes. Not good wan.

Roomba, if you self import, about 450 bucks. Comex selling over 700.

There is a thread in Homemakers and seekers on roomba and scooba.

I just bought the basic unit, the Roomba Silver (pictured above), @ $438 @ Comex. Comes with a 1-year guarantee for the main unit and 6-months for the battery. Haven't used or recharged it yet.

But here's something interesting: I was deciding whether to buy the Silver or Discovery (the Discovery costs $652, comes with a recharging station and a remote control, both of which the Silver does not have. Anyway, I thought I can use my Harmony Remote to try control it.)

When the salesman pictured above opened the Discovery's box to let me check the contents, I discovered to my horror that the power supply was still the US version (ie input was rated 120V only!!!) I alerted him to it and he was so shocked! Upon further checking, we realised that only the Silver's power supplies had been replaced, and not the Discovery. He chided his nephew for not replacing the power supply at their main office. :s13:

My warning to the salesman also came in the nick of time. See the woman seated in the picture above? She was his first customer and bought the Roomba and Scooba. I quickly alerted him to replace her new unit's power supply, which he did immediately.

The salesman then thanked me profusely but declined to give me any discount or free gift whatsoever when I asked him for it. He insisted that the price was already very good since Courst and elsewhere were selling the Silver for $538 (dunno true or not.)

Still I decided to get the Silver. In the end, a lady cashier decided to give me a free filter unit. Can lah...

Anyone here heard any reviews of the Roomba 500 series? Thinking of getting the Roomba 560.

Also, I have a friend gng to USA these few days. Cheaper to ask my firend to buy for me & bring back or to import myself?

Thanks!

Yes, its possible many other brands will work as well. Just got to test and try it out... also got to use in moderation... some of these floor washing detergents may produce too much foam. Have been using MagicClean for years and since my Scooba is happy with it (moreover it uses less than manual mopping), helps me to save some $$$. It also uses less water not to mention!!! :s13:

Costco will only put the 550 on sale on the 10 Sep so I dont think anyone get to purchase it yet.

Anyway Linens and Things having sale on the scooba 5800 for only 199.99 only. I had ordered mine and it mention backorder in my invoice. So I think have to wait for a few weeks before I can get to touch the scooba.

O ya one thing... for the 5800 in Linens and Things it mention the include set for the 5800 is

Includes:

* Scooba Floor Washing Robot
* 8 oz bottle of Clorox solution
* Measuring Cup
* Charging Base
* Rechargable Battery
* 1 Virtual Wall® (requires 2 D Batteries not included)

It say charging base... hmm cause this is something I still puzzle cause I though standard 5800 only come with the PSU only?? Wonder do they really mean the real charging base. Let see if my order get through and when I receive me scooba, I will give an update about this issue.

O ya anyone got to repair roomba before? Cause my roomba go crazy after using it for 3 months plus...

My roomba will move around as normal and when it hit one of the movement pattern the front bumper will not function and the roomba will just go straight and hit anything on it way or even just hit the wall and continue keep moving or even ignore the V-wall.

This problem keep happening on just 1 kind of pattern movement. For other movement pattern the front bumper will work as it is and roomba will change direction when it hit something.

I almost going crazy about this issues and I try asking GKrobot and they told me it should be the mainboard spoil and the quote they give me is way too costly almost half the price of the roomba not worth it to repair.

Then I search around and found roombaexchange which provide instruction on how to diagnose the roomba and also how to strip it apart. So tonite I will go through the diagnose and found out which part if faulty to be sure and then part the roomba part from roombaexhange and change the parts myself which will only cost me 100plus including shippment fees.

IMO, I would rather have the extended battery capable of 2.5 cycles than the charging base. The Scooba 5800 comes with a std battery lasting only slightly over 1 cycle.
