suffered the same predicament as you. was using singway SW-S3 (80W) transformer and guess it overheated and burnt.Last nite while charging my scooba (first charge) my 70Watt transformer overheated and the thermal cut off did not kick in which resulted in a blown Scooba power supply/charger. model 13143 for scooba 5990
I just opened the scooba charger and indeed there were burnt marks and blown bits. The whole PCB had become oily (yellow colour oil).
On closer inspection, discovered that varistor RV1 was blown open and F1 was blown to bits (nothing left except legs). The cap of F1 says T3.15A 250V. Is F1 a capacitor?
I am not electronics trained but hv picked up a bit of soldering skills over the years. I would be most grateful if someone here could tell me if the charger is still savageable.
Can I just replaced the blown components and modify the C1 and RV1 to get it working again.
If not, does anyone know if I can buy/replace the charger here?
Many thanks and regards

for my newstar 150wsuffered the same predicament as you. was using singway SW-S3 (80W) transformer and guess it overheated and burnt.
can see that part of the transformer went out of shape and was deformed.
RV 1 blown open but F1 like still retained its shape, dont know if internally spoilt or not. u just need to replace C1 and remove RV1 and everything will work again? need to replace F1 or not?
think as of now, only newstar transformers are more reliable. unless there are cases of overheating also, anybody?
I replaced C1 with a 100u400v capacitor, removed RV1 and replaced F1, the latter a fuse that blew.suffered the same predicament as you. was using singway SW-S3 (80W) transformer and guess it overheated and burnt.

F1 what ratings? how much to replace all in all?I replaced C1 with a 100u400v capacitor, removed RV1 and replaced F1, the latter a fuse that blew.
F1 is a fuse, I wld suggest replacing it with a new one if you do not wish to take any chances.
Happy modding and enjoy he fruits of your labour.![]()
where did you buy the Super 120W? and how much ah?

bought from irobot using DBS amex (black card) using normal checkout.
for the billing address, what did you fill in?U can get the Super 120W or Newstar 100/150W from Sim Lim Tower, third floor. I've been using the Super 120W for over a year and its still going strong, powering both my Roomba and Scooba. Should be around S$25 (back then, now u have to check).
managed to revive the power adaptor by modding.suffered the same predicament as you. was using singway SW-S3 (80W) transformer and guess it overheated and burnt.
