Melamine wont cause cancer, it causes kidney stone. I guess is the Chlorox! But this is MIC, anything can happen.

Whats the capacity of the white battery?

Received the Scooba 5806 (new) from Woot on 9/10/08. Surprise it is a white battery and charger. 1st time see white battery. Mine either blue or dark grey. The handle is plastic as compared to the reman woot 5800 which is metal. Looks great!

seems like this product is going to be sold in California, according to the wikipedia article, most company put this label to protect themselves just in case of law sue. anyway these warning signs are overuse in California as there are no penalty for posting an unnecessary warning.

IMO I will clean up my scooba throughly first before i use, at least it will lessen the psychological effect from the label.

Yep, as its stated only 50 mins meaning 1 complete cleaning cycle. Capacity of the battery is usually stated at the back of the battery. A complete 2 cycle battery (high capacity) will be rated at 4100mAh. Anything less should be a 1 cycle battery.

Today collected a set of spoilt red roomba (unit only - w/o batt) from Bernwong. Thanks bro! U r most helpful. I finally can use the yellow 'nut' and wheel for my handicapped roomba from stootsi.

Good news is that I have manage to get both running now after some cleaning. Just ordered 2 news batteries for these 2 Roomba and they will be sent off working in my Brothers' home soon

I think Bernwong did not do any maintanence cleaning to his Roomba at all. The Discovery was found with dusty sensor located near both wheels, and therefore the circle dance.

While the RED was found with thick dirt, clogging inside the main motor for the brushes.
After cleaning it boths works like charm now.



Anyway as an appreciate to Bernwong, if your 5xx encounter any problems in future, I can help you to do a major cleaning for free.

wow, good for you. I thought the discovery was a goner. I actually did tear up the thing to clean according to instructions on roombareview but I stopped at the last step (which was to cut and unscrew the wheel cap. Had no confidence I can put it back. After that deep cleaning, it worked for 2 months before I had to tear it up again. Then it worked only a month and after one more time I gave up. Thought the motor had burned out on the other one. Again was too lazy to tear it open to check (was just looking for an excuse to go to the 510 model )

well will call you when my 510 develop any problems and will learn from you how to do a proper deep cleaning. that will really save me a lot of money . Good to know that the roombas are actually pretty robust.

btw you need to get a 100w or above transformer, 240-110v, for scooba. Scooba is USA bought one, so power adapter is using 110v one.

1) I am not sure do you need a pump, see how lor.

2) You can try using 1st before buying a new battery.

1. If the 1st time you try to use the scooba, it says check tank. Then, you need to pre-pump the scooba to get it work. Any small nozzle pump will do. Perhaps some photography pump (to clean the lens) might work. Juz ensure that the nozzle fits the pump 'hole' on the scooba.
2. Only when your battery is weak, then you need a replacement. You can find vic in www.roombareview.com or get glo who can ship to SG. Vic only ships to conus and you need to get bdx to ship over. Glo is cheaper and faster. They are very famous ppl there. Their posts are everywhere and super helpful.

just got a roomba 560 (from ebay, at $260 USD, and I hand-carried it back when I went to US for business trip last week)

got a 24V 1A adapter but the roomba gave a "charging error, err2" message. Swopped the third party adapter with a 100W step down converter, and the roomba is charging now, but I'm wary of the potential consequence of using a converter.

anyway I can get a proper 240V 22.5V 1.25A PSU? or anybody in SLT can modify roomba PSU? (I'm bad with my electric job, so I prefer to leave to expert)

BTW, I thought why the earlier 24V 1A adapter didn't work for me because the battery was totally flat, and the charger couldn't draw enough power. It appears that the roomba is quite intelligence to draw different voltage at different charging level, is that true?

my roomba charger is modded, but scooba running using converter for over a year now with no charging issues. I'm sure some of us here have been running the converters a lot longer than that

There are MANY people who have been using a converter with the 110V P/S and we have not encountered this issue (as long as its a decent quality step down transformer). Mine has been working for almost 3 years, operating 24/7 and powering BOTH my Roomba and Scooba P/S together for 1+ years).

i'm not an electronic gurus to be honest, so I would leave the explanation to the experts (and maybe to refute that), but it has been documented before that some appliances are designed for certain frequencies. And I did have one engineer friend who had his Roomba charging circuit 'fried'.
