Can someone with experience in modifying SCOOBA charger help me?

I bought a Scooba 340 from eBay that came with a voltage converter and I happily plugged it in and it blew immediately. Smoke came out and yellow oily liquid oozing.

So I went to buy a 100uF 450V capacitor and a new fuse and resolder, taking away the varistor. It charges happily (or so I thought). Used the Scooba for 2 rounds now it refuses to charge (4 beeps). Doesn't look like anything blew though; no sound no smoke no smell. Any clues?

I've modified a Roomba charger in a similar manner it's still working.

Hello people, im very interested to purchase one roomba to clean up the mess my sister and i have created in our rooms. after reading tons of post... im still in a mess and dont know which one to choose. seems like all the 500 series are quite handy at picking up pet fur which is our main aim. would someone recommand and if buying locally would be cheaper as on courts and even irobot.com.sg are carrying them.. please adv. :)

buy local never cheap before, maybe x2 price or more of USA imports including delivery charges. :o

400 or 500 series work, can sweep off dust equally efficient the same except for some technology diff.

 $788?

I think get from irobot store in usa would be much much cheaper. :s22:

do check amazon also, maybe cheaper than irbot usa online store. :o

you can ship by borderline, comgateway or vpost, depends which credit card you have. I think vpost allow you to use debit card or paypal?

Definitely cheaper than the ones sold locally. There may be offers from HSN, Woot.com, etc. Keep a look out for them, though u may have some issues buying from HSN.com. They dont cater to foreign orders, though those who managed to order from them can give further advice.
