trickle charging means ?? turn off when not using and turn on when using?
haha have to find a way to remove some items when it's on schedule especially cords....would the roomba be spoilt if it vacuums toilet rugs (a bit damp at times) ?

trickle charging means in my interpretation means once roomba is fully charge, there is minimal or little electricity use to maintain the roomba at fully charge. I have on my 535 since 2007, wo switching off as I understand if u off it for more than a say a day, you will need a refresh charge which take like 16 hrs or more, else if you charge less than that, you risk damaging your batt. ;)

Hi ppl,

I am looking at buying a roomba to do daily vacuuming as my dog sheds fur pretty often. I have a few question which I hope you can help address:

1. What is the difference between 560 and 562 apart from the high capacity bin? Will 563 work better for my case?

2. I read that fur may get stuck in the brushes easily, resulting in an error. Anyone with similar experience?

3. Local distributor is selling 563 model. What is the difference between this model and the US 562 model?

Hope any kind soul can help. Thanks in advance!

1) All 500 series are basically the same base robot except for certain accessories and features. 562 has additional brushes and HC bin you mentioned which does not vacuum if you use it.

2) If you maintain your brushes cleaned on a regular basis, you should not have a problem with it. I had 3 dogs & using a 560.

3) 562 & 563 is the same just being 563 is modelled differently in europe like 555(560) & 520(630).

In my opinion, you might like to just get a 560 or even the 551 with aerovac bin. I have not tested the aerovac bin but reviews has shown that the suction is better resulting in a cleaner brushes.

My aerovac bin is coming in these few days. I might put up a review after using it.

I have some roomba & scooba for sale and it's local voltage rdy. You can contact me at 81254240 if you are interested. ;)

Review of Roomba 551 with Aerovac bin.
- Aerovac is new design single chamber vacuum bin
- fits all Roomba 500 series models
- filter design is curved with larger surface area
- no more rubber squeegy at bottom of vacuum bin
- large debris & fine dust are all sucked and compacted to rear of Aerovac bin
- bristle brush will have little or no tangled hair, yellow bearing of bristle brush also no longer have wound up hair

Previous design vacuum bin is separated into large debris chamber & fine dust filter chamber. Hair tossed into large chamber will get tangled on the high speed rotating bristle brush & its yellow bearing. Reason is the debris are not compacted & kept at the rear of bin, but rather are left dangling all over.

My Roomba with Aerovac bin has much cleaner bristle brush.
My other Roomba with normal bin, will have wound up hair on the yellow bearing every 3-4 days, which I need to remove to prevent heat generation from added friction.

From the reviews I read, it seems that aerovac bin is the answer pet owners like me. My dog really sheds alot.. to the point that I have to vacuum everyday.

There used to be a model 551 that comes with aerovac bin but this model is no longer available in the irobot website? Anyone using the aerovac bin can testify to its effectiveness?

To anyone selling roomba 560/562 with aerovac bin, pls feel free to quote me via pm. Thanks

BTW, thanks Jub and Uno for your replies :)

I used to vacuum daily too with my 3 JRTs until the roomba 560 was introduce into my family, there has been no looking back till now.

What kind of dog do you own? A 560 might be sufficient though an aerovac bin might be useful. :)

I will probably get the aerovac bin from irobot's online store and ship it back via vpost.

Anyone interested in getting together to save on the vpost shipping? The bin is selling for USD34.99 and it seems like there's a 10% discount on accessories now..

Depends on your need. The regular bin is good enough in most cases if you clean your roomba regularly.

I am waiting for the shipment to come in and will put up on sale soon.

ppong & tekster, Aerovac bin is really much better than normal vacuum bin.

As described in my Aerovac bin review, normal bin tends to have wound up hair at the yellow bearing especially if a member of family has long hair. If all short hair that it won't happen.

Aerovac bin sucks & compact all the rubbish to the rear, so long hair will not get pulled out again by the high speed spinning bristle brush.

For those interested to get Roomba 551 with Aerovac bin, just Google my user ID, my "items for sale" on eBay has Roomba 551.:s8:

It comes in a bigger box so the volumetric weight should be slightly more than $20but in USD.

Where do you see the US$10 delivery fee bro? The offer I saw on their website is 10% off accessories and free shipping if you sign up for irobot's email subscription.

For the aerovac bin, the volumetric weight will probably exceed the actual weight. Not sure by how much, but if we buy at least 2 I would think that the vpost shipping will be ard $20 each. Anyway, we will split the vpost shipping equally between the number of buyers. Pm me if you are interested.
