Woot Roomba 440 at US$129 now..............

Hi, Roomba 440 izit good enough to cover 3 Rooms?

Regards the Roomba 440 will be better perform than 530?
Because i do not own it b4 sure i dunno the Roomba 400 series history.

440 is super ultra basic!
a) no charging contacts, so even if u buy 400 series Home Base, it still can't dock
Even if u transplant motherboard to 400 series with charging contact oso no use.
b) no Dirt Detect, not an important feature unless u got carpet, then Dirt Detect helps remove non-obvious sandy debris
c) battery is Blue 1800mAh NiCD with max run time 70 mins (Roomba spends 25 mins per normal bedroom)
d) not compatible with Scheduler Remote, I read this from Robotreviews so I can't confirm, but I think it's logical since it can't dock anyway

Comparing 440/435 to Roomba 4000 Maroon/Greenish Blue (single button 400 series).
a) 4000 has charging contact, so can dock if u buy Home Base
b) 4000 also no Dirt Detect
c) 4000 can be scheduled using Scheduler Remote
d) 4000 comes with grey NiMH battery (possibly 2200mAh)
e) 4000 comes with black 8 hr charger
f) I now have a 4000 which I'm repairing for customer, so I can test if it respond to Compact Virtual Wall. Most likely not. But it comes with 400 series Virtual Wall anyway.

So I can conclude Roomba 440 is a simple starter robot, or extra if u want to abuse it to clean outdoor.

Just go for a 500 series. 440 works great too but I personally just do not like the construction and the operating noise it generates as it age (even when it is new too )

Yap, i saw some reviews on front wheel really easily get stuck over the cord & wire, on front bumper look same as Scooba bumper just one side of wall sensor,
for that result i think can imaging the works like scooba truning wall very slow.

440 is basically 400 series, so unlike 500 series & above, it doesn't have anti-tangle for cord & wire, and doesn't have soft-touch sensor for slowing down near objects.
Speed of 400 series is same as 500 series, so it won't be "like scooba turning wall very slow".

Just went to Sim Lim Tower today to ask about AC-AC Converter. Which is to convert our local power 230~240VAC to 110~120VAC US.

Approximately 100W is $24, 200W is $38.

As there are several different wattages available starting from 80 to 100 to 200 and more, the uncle cautioned me to check my appliance's required input before buying.

My item is still coming in from US, so I want to confirm it first.

Hope this info helps anyone who is looking into a power converter to power your US appliance. I cheap out a little and bought an Evolution Mint Robot Cleaner. Is more like a micro mouse pushing a magic clean swipe around. But I think it will be even less maintenance than a Roomba or Scooba.

hmm..just curious.. why do we need Roomba when we have Scooba 330/380 that vacuums and washes as well?

Kinda defeats the purpose of automatic floor cleaning when one still has to manually mob the floor (or purchase another irobot ) after a Roomba does its job..

Bakasa got Mint, I believe it's universal charger and requires no Voltage Convertor.

U're right about Mint being a simple cleaner. Any simpler, u'll have to buy this

Scooba's cleaning ability will supercede Roomba for hard floors (except laminate). Scooba can't clean carpet which Roomba can & exceptionally well too.

If all u want is cleanliness, then Scooba is cleanest (best in US & some say the world).

I own an original Spin Mop $60 from Home Fix, rinsing the microfibre head is easy but floor is still sticky after use.
Scooba makes my floor ridiculously clean. U know the "5 second rule": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five-second_rule
With Scooba, I don't even observe the "5 mins rule".

However, Scooba is not for busy people, much more human involvement is required as compared to Roomba.
Despite the clean up after use is only less than 5 mins, u're STILL required to clean up.
Whereas u can use Roomba daily & only attend to it after 1-2 wks.

If u visit friends and peek into their storeroom, u'll notice that appliances that get shelved are usually those that require much effort to setup &/or maintain.
We, in this modern age, simply prefers hassle-free "touch of a button" kinda appliances. That's what Roomba offers, and why it's most widely accepted by young techies, housewives & retired folks.

ic.. that makes sense. Then again, hard floors cant really be clean with vacuum alone and i'll probably be doing any form of hard floor cleaning (no carpets. laminated stuff etc) once a week, so the scooba irobot will be my choice if i decide to buy. And it wont be a white elephant or left in the storeroom since it beats having to manually mob the floor lol

You will be surprised at what roomba can picks up although you see it running aimlessly in the house. Like I said, this little fellow never fail to impress anyone with just a single first run and many of my customer is a repeated one for their parents and in-laws as this thing simply works. You'll notice your floor had never been so clean before and wonder why didn't you get it earlier

In my opinion, scooba will be a great compliment to get for roomba. Roomba just work everyday and scooba will compliment with a shine. Given only a choice, I would go for roomba.

This is the first so call robot I had and it simply pushes everything around. Looks like they had added additional programming onto it. The consumable ain't cheap!!!

Loving my scooba and for those who does not know what a scooba is. i got a video clip on my blog. Its a very simple little robot that keep your floor from stickiness and making it smooth after roomba has done with his job. Agree with jubooo that Scooba compliments a roomba.

I have used a roomba and now own a neato. I definitely prefer the neato. It cleans from room to room by itself without using battery-operated guides, has a much more powerful vacumm (but louder), navigates around (and not into) furniture and gets the job done much faster. In comparison, the roomba takes forever to get its job done and frequently bang into dark-coloured furniture at full speed. It is also much more difficult to clean out the roomba. BTW, the neato comes with a 110V to 240V adaptor. I owned the neato since last oct and have no issues with it at all.

i started off with using roomba. it works great and does help me out with my laziness. hahah.... but when i got the scooba, i'm glad i did that. i thought it was great having all the dust sucked up (my house really gets dusty in 2-3 days). after the first scooba run, the water was totally black. i was like "what was that???!!!"

ever since then, i appreciated the scooba even more. if i don't vacuum a week, i can see the water really turns dark color.
