I have a 560. I schedule my Roomba to vacuum when I am at work, which is the reason why I bought the Roomba - when I come home, I come home to a cleaner house. lol.

If you want to sit at home while watching ur Roomba run, then save the $$$ on 530. But I love my scheduling function.

erm.... even i got a 530 and i do not sit around watching the roomba do it's stuff. heh....

i just let it roam and when i'm back, pick up my pet roomba and let it dock.

Hmmm, I wonder why my 560 just run out of battery and stoped like 2 meters away from the docking station. Shouldn't it dock by itself when it detect it's battery is running low?

How old is the battery? If it is an old battery, it might be suffering from some bad cells which cause sudden death to the battery preventing roomba from completing the job.

It could also be your homebase location. You might like to try relocating it and see if it helps.

Thanks all for the reply.

Does the 530 go from room to room on its own after starting?

Also my house rooms has this blip/small little "hump" at each door, not sure if it will get stuck there..

If you buy the latest roomba 530, it'll come with the high capacity battery so it makes it no difference from the 550 & above and would be able to do 4 rooms.

Small curb like those laminate flooring divider is not a problem to roomba. You'll be surprise it can even mount pretty high curbs at time especially base of chairs and standing fan.

So far i just got my 530 looks and model no. 53501 & bottom plate showing 550,
Totally mix up 530 model, now can used with Wireless Command Center to set In Schedule & lighthouse some more ke ke,
Just for fun only, cause I do not have it before, I am quite like my whole white series.
But make sure need to protect on hit in wall or black color furniture to scratch on the white bumper and side shell.

Is that the used model that you mentioned? It is actually a 535 which is actually the HSN model of 530 that supports lighthouse and had been discontinued. The base plate must have been replaced by the ex-owner.

Where's the best place (cheapest & reliable) to get a Roomba from overseas (online)? Used to read from the thread quite long ago that we can get good deals from deals.woot.com Is it still a good place to get it?

Which Roomba model is recommended? Understand that there is now a 700 series.. any difference between this and 500 series. For 500 series, I'm looking at 530 as I do not need the scheduling function.

Thanks! =D

If I know you wanna DIY, I would have told you I have everything you need to construct 4 roomba. Since you have a 550 PCB, why not just install a keypad with scheduling button and don't even need to use the WCC. It'll be black though :s13: on a white shell :s7:

Ha ha I ask you many times, you said don't have the core robot without the PCB :(
Difficult to find it.
So I have no choice :(

I still have extra 561 PCB non-RF and comes with black Keypad all new no scratch on black surface :)

you have lobang for good deals?:D

Ha ha actually no good deals in Sg, just one brand new Roomba ASP battery can be cost you more than $120, if buy from eBay and shiped is around $100-120 approx.

This is what you need.
On one idea go for 2nd and used model.

There is still the best & bring back to clean up all the hairs & dust. :)

You can try to get battery from ebay, chances are it won't last long. Uno's customer had many complains and I guess that is why he prefer original battery for a reason while I believe if you sourced the correct supplier, the problem is solved.

Bro, you've just started. Wait till you hit the bump like me and you'll know ;)

Got a few good deals in Singapore actually. Plus you get warranty for local importers. Do take a look around for models you really like here.

Generic battery is hit & miss, since all come from China. iRobot originals are also now made in China, but they obviously have better QC.

If we look at US eBay, there are generic battery sellers that claim 3 yrs warranty! Sure... if u buy & shelf for 3 yrs before using. How to verify & claim battery warranty after 3 yrs, their battery got serial number meh? I can assure u the 3 yr warranty is complete BS!

I sell generic Roomba batteries cos on the whole, still no violent complains, or at least, no cases of "accelerated death".
But Scooba generic batteries which I sold long ago was 100% complain (3 upon 3, Bingo!), it was 4800mAh which never delivered >80 mins since day 1 & dropped performance with 1 mth.
I've heard at least 5 other stories about rapid death of generic Scooba batt. I'm now "supposed" to crack open & repair Bakasa's generic batt, but it's on my long "To-Do list", I didn't forget boss...:s8:
I also sold a 3500mAh & a 4200mAh Scooba generic in Jan & Feb 2011 respectively, so far no complains. So I guess some generic are of better quality.

My personal experience as shared above is not to "sabo" people, it's to highlight the "一分钱一分货" theory.

One can simply hit the clean button before you leave home for work and the job is still done when you come home. The scheduling function is just an added convenience in any case you forget to run roomba while in a hurry :)

I let it run b4 I leave home at 8am, then set another schedule to run at 2pm. Hehehe ... Am I the only one? :p

I have a born and breed 535 that I adopted in 2007, it's still w me. Just about 2 batt changes so far. Roomba are damn hardy machines, except the PSU. ;p

I been using generic problems for both scooba and roomba, I wld say 2 out of 10 is having problems, but I am happy to pay a fraction of the price for the original. ;)
