Hi Folks

I got myself the iRobot Scooba from U.S. while holidaying there. The Scooba works fines and has work faithfully for me since Aug 2011.

However, today it was failed me for the first time. I tried to power-up but there's no response and no green light from the LED. I tried charging the battery again, and its was fully charged but still the same response.

I'm not sure why it has happen this way, has it died out on me? My last usage was last friday, when I use the Scooba with the sample of cleaning solution (that came bundle with Scooba).

I do understand that the local dealer does not repair export sets. Anyone else that I seek on this?

Hi, based on the symptoms you described, most probably the fault lies with the control panel. Water could have affected the control panel during loading of the scooba tank. Simple fix of adjusting the placement of the control panel, repairing it or in the worst case, replacing it. In any case would cost about $30-40 Max to repair/replace, including all diagnostics or hidden charges.

Do contact us at admin@autovacstore.com if you do require any assistance. Same day repairs can be arranged. Of course UNO and Robovac would be able to offer great help and service at reasonable prices too. Hope you can get your Scooba up and running again. :)

Since it is still under warranty, you may want to start contacting iRobot to initiate a case first.

After a couple of email exchanges, they will probably issue you an RMA ticket and ask for your shipping address to send you a replacement. Best case if you happen to be going to US on holiday soon, or you know someone in US who can help receive the replacement - otherwise, ship to your vPost, CGW, etc, address.

When you receive the replacement, you are supposed to ship back your faulty set, otherwise your remaining warranty will be forfeit - which should be fine since there's only about 3 months left anyway.

Bakasa, stop giving excuses to shelf ur Scooba 340.
I agree it moves slower than my 340, which moves like a 380, urs move like a 350.

Tough luck since both of ours came from HSN, HSN screwed u...
So as I stated in HWZ post long ago here: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/56389306-post8106.html
U Lan Lan...

But... the other deficiencies u're experiencing with ur Scooba can easily be rectified, eg. replace worn out tires, replace charger (if confirmed is spoilt, my tests did indicate charge failure).

When I tested ur Scooba on my parquet floor, everything ok, that's why I gave it "clean bill of health" before returning u.

May I know can I use Roomba virtual wall with Scooba?

Thanks
The answer is most likely "No". Cos I doubt u're still referring to Roomba 400 series Virtual Wall.

Roomba 500/600/700 series Virtual Wall will not work on Scooba.
But the opposite is "True".

Tot I established that ur motherboard is not faulty? Just slow only, I even OSMO it before.

Of course, if the slowness is intolerable, then changing m/b is the only way out.

Yes, and if u're into technicality, u can read this: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/55067182-post8010.html

And to add, Scooba Virtual Wall WILL auto-off after 2 hrs (or 100 mins I can't remember & lazy to go search manual). So if Roomba is scheduled to start when no one is around, then Scooba Virtual Wall will have no one to on it.

Hi Guys,

Going to buy my first robotic cleaner! So will appreciate your advises.

My living room and kitchen have a drop of around 10cm which robotic cleaner will be able to avoid the drop?

Also is the roboking reliable? Sounds very good from what I read so far but I have doubts on paying $799 for only half a year warranty for a product with so many mechanical parts!

Yes, the robot will avoid the steps and will not drop. You'll need to manually bring it down to clean the kitchen if required.

You can checkout my site RobovacShop for all robotics cleaner which I can easily support with all my spares. I dare to say that no one in the world had as much RPS Lidar sensors as I do now to support the world most powerful robotic vacuum - Neato XV-11 / XV-12.

"Most powerful robotic vacuum"?... Don't wanna bust ur chops, but I do have a knack of sniffing out inconsistencies, as u've written here: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/58038848-post8388.html

I do agree Neato vacuum is powerful, but relying on one rubber beater brush & the suction to lift larger & heavier debris is just not going to happen.
As demonstrated by the video which I linked in 2nd last para here: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/61849822-post8706.html

I highlighted the diff between XV 11/12 & even the upcoming XV 21, as compared to VR100 which has sidebrush, here: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/63749571-post8803.html

The Neato tank-like rattling noise from rubber beater brush as I've demonstrated here: Neato vs Roomba noise level - YouTube
Can indeed be resolved by my simple mod here: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/65557529-post9104.html

Oh, and since we're in advertising mood, lemme do my part.

I've been selling iRobot products full-time on eBay since Aug 2008. I doubt any other sellers here can say the same.
At least I won't be posted overseas for 8-9 mths at one shot & leave my old customers in the dust when they need tech support.

For local ready for delivery items & local round the clock tech support from me, pls visit my eBay iRobot store: uno bliss | eBay
deweylim, I've sent u a PM, pls check PM inbox. Queries pls email me unobliss@yahoo.com

Hi, have got your email and replied. Do understand your concerns. Rest assured. Would offer a FREE 1 year warranty for the LG ROBOKING for HWZ bros. Thanks for contacting us at admin@autovacstore.com

In any case, for Neato RPS error, you need not replace the whole Lidar sensor. The parts within the sensor can be repaired or replaced specifically. However of course the simplest way would be to replace the whole sensor, but that would result in a higher cost and with such replacements, the problem may return again.

That is not inconsistency, it is still the world most powerful robot vacuum with the strongest suction till now. I still stand with the earlier post as in roomba cleans best with the counter rotating brush combine with it's vacuum.

Your mod is great but still beater works better in lossening dust and bristle picks up hair and small debris better. As for the XV-21 brush, I should have it within 2 months after the launch.

My posting will be history now and I volunteer to be there also to have a chance to meet more supplier for a better deal which I did and Robovac is now back with the widest range of models and better pricing.

In terms of warranty, my wife still support those under warranty and a few of them even gets a brand new robot when she is unable to resolve. Now is time to train my boys :D Those that has no warranty I even refer some of them to you which might explain why you're so busy during that period. Round the clock? I am also back for good to support :)

Jubooo, thanks for the explaination, I definitely respect sellers who put customer support as top priority. A promise is a promise.
And those who can help customers resolve at minimal cost are even better. Smiling face with "Carrot Chopper" behind is what I cannot stand.

In early Nov 2011, I repaired original black NiCD battery from Remanufactured Roomba 530 for my customer who bought end of Nov 2010.
So after 11 mths, her Roomba consistently ran less than 1 hr & did not dock. I gave her choice of original/generic, or $30 battery repair.
She chose to repair, which obviously is more hands-on work for me as compared to just selling another battery. But I did it "Swee Swee" by replacing 3 weakest cells, and until now (5 mths after repair), she hasn't complained yet.

In early Apr 2012, I FOC repaired original black NiCD battery from Remanufactured Roomba 530 for my customer who bought early Jul 2011.
So after 9 mths, her battery rapidly degraded from 1 hr to 25 mins to 5 mins. She told me she uses it daily. She's retiree so obviously more "on".
I repaired & returned her battery in 2 days, considering she stays frickin' Pasir Ris & I stay in west.
Actually my warranty for Remanufactured Roomba is 3 mths, but since I find 9 mths too short for battery death, I take responsibility & rectify it.

For both cases, it was housecall & home delivery, I don't make housewife/retiree customers travel to my home or meet outside (unless they got "Chauffeur"). I plan my logistics for their convenience.
Considering I don't even drive, and have a max load carrying ability of ~15 kg, by public transport, up & down overhead bridges, etc.
Now I know why I was an Infantry Signaller, carrying ~15 kg of equipment to walk from 11pm to dawn.

I'm a simple guy who just wanna do what I enjoy, and strangely, I enjoy repairing things. But of course I don't have time to repair TV or other people's PC.
Maybe Bakasa, Kimsim, or ur wife would tell u I'm a nice guy. And I enjoy meeting nice customers, who doesn't?...

As for repairing robots sold by my competitors, well... I will still do it full-effort, cos every piece of work I "hand-in" goes along with "pride of ownership".
I suppose the Japs & some Ang Mor have such mentality. I don't wanna start finger-pointing at countries that have terrible work ethics, we all can hear from the news.
