Hi

Have you purchased from Woot? Do you know if it is upgraded to the version 7 software?
According to the photos, yes it's version 7. And I doubt there's any more version 6 (or lower) new Scooba out there.
Unless u buy from Amazon or eBay where some sellers are housewives/grannies who kept their Scooba given as gift from friend for maybe 5 years, then finally decide to sell off as new unit to clear their storeroom.

I've met ~2 such buyers in S'pore who actually bought Scooba 5900 (1st generation that cannot use plain water) made in 2006. Naturally the 2006 battery couldn't hold charge & he had to buy new battery. I was kind enough to update his version 1 Scooba to version 6, else it'll overcharge battery within few mths.

You're right it's version 7 based on the photo but how sure are we that woot did not use stock photo? Experienced tell me that woot's stock is always overstock items stored for a period of time.

(a) Check serial no. on the sticker below the battery slot, last 6th digit denotes software version. Scooba 340 bought in 2007/2008 is probably made in Sep 2007, software should be version 3 or 5 at best.

(b) After u've checked ur firmware, any version lower than 6, I can update it to version 6. Small fee unless u buy battery or engage my repair service, then I'll do it FOC.

Any queries just email me unobliss@yahoo.com

I only have Scooba OSMO for version 6. I don't have for version 7.
For that matter, I believe I'm the only one in entire HWZ with Scooba OSMO.

What v6 does compared to v5, I dunno. These little little patches to movement pattern, obstacle response & battery management is very subtle, and not announced by iRobot.
I only know earlier v1 & v2 will overcharge battery within mths.

Looks like a great thread. Owners, dealers, newbies all here :)
I need a good robot to vacuum and pick up dirts n hair. Typical hdb flat.
Any can recommend me some models to look at? What are common issues and limitations of such robots?

Many thanks.

I find that roomba is more aggressive and picks up the most debris. Any model will do a great job and the lighthouse equipped models will have a more thorough room to room cleaning.

Roboking will have a more systematic mapping system approach and you might also consider it.

Feel free to browse my site http://www.RobovacShop.com

Correction, RobovacShop has the OSMO device for both Roomba & Scooba too.

Can consider the Roomba 650 ($599) for vacuuming up the home and offering great value. Its movement is seemingly more random but it still does a fair job in picking up debris and hair. if your home is ard 1000 sqft should be fairly comprehensive.
If you are looking for better coverage and more systematic navigation to cover a larger area, can consider the LG roboking and Iclebo arte models too.
The cleaners are all fairly durable and should last for years, in any case if there is any issue, comprehensive warranty is provided locally.
In any case, if you need help considering, can always arrange for a demonstration session and have a look at the various models available.
Do recommend you read a range of review online and I am sure you did make a good choice. :)

Can the power adaptor be use in Singapore?
It'll come with USA charger which is strictly for 110V only & would blow instantly in S'pore power socket.
U can either purchase a Voltage Convertor (NOT travel adapter plug), or look for me or Jubooo to convert the charger voltage at small fee.

Can PM or email me unobliss@yahoo.com
