iRobot Scooba experience

Not really weakness. Just that I don't like the
1) banging wall/obstacles
2) when empty the vacuum bin always drop out dust/dirty.
3) the battery drains fast within 3-5 days if not left to always charging.

iRobot good for it's suction power, a lot of spare parts available, a lot of support from this forum, got Pet filter, Light-House, Schedule Function.

I am thinking of getting the LG set in Harvey.. cos is basic usage home so dont neeed to get the overseas sets

My suggestion is not to get the one from Harvey as that's the older model... Plus it's round which does not clean the corners well... The squarish models (Overseas Korean domestic models) are way better...

I'm currently using the 6260 which in my opinion is one of the best & smartest models around...

My only regret... Why didn't I get it earlier...

Anyone have constant issue with the scooba battery dieing after like a month of use? I have a unit for about 3 months now and had to replace three battery already. I followed the instructions and took the battery out after use and after each full charge. Battery is charged in the external charger only. I only run it like 2-3 times a week and after about a month it just dies after ten or so mins after a full charge.

Getting worried that after warranty my scooba will become a elephant. Anyone else with a scooba facing this issue?

I'm guessing u still have 3 more mths of warranty, so just keep claiming battery replacement from ur seller until warranty expires. Then u can look for me to resolve once & for all.

Glad the LG Roboking 626X ($858) is working well for you. The latest square models definitely offer a significant improvement in terms of coverage, navigation and cleaning capability over the older models sold in stores.
But if budget is a concern, can always consider the older 590X ($699) models too.

Hi Oliver, rest assured. I am sure if you purchased from a local seller, your warranty coverage would definitely be most comprehensive, considering you have had the original battery replaced 3 times with original batteries (hopefully), suggests support you properly can't get from purchasing overseas. Rest assured, if all fails, I am sure you could always request for a replacement unit.

i tot there is a wet microfibre attachment for mopping the floopr .. Though need to wash the cloth after every room

100% meant for mopping is Scooba only

The roboking has a more systematic cleaning whereas the roomba is random. I wish to buy the roomba given the spare parts are readily available but the cleaning process is alittle dumb. Meaning the roomba will miss some areas of the room.
Any inputs?

When people say Roomba is random, it just means that they can't see a straight forward cleaning pattern. That doesn't equate to random.
If iRobot wants Roomba to go straight line, then U-turn & go straight line, do u think it's beyond their engineers?
Instead, Roomba was given an algorithm of progressive learning, analyzing & gradually expanding.

And the other argument that Roomba goes over an area few times is random. I only agree that it takes more time, but necessary to ensure a thorough clean, especially when it comes to sandy debris.
BTW, Roomba is the only brand with Dirt Detect, while other brands will just pass thru sand once leaving lots behind (if they can even pick any in the first place).

I own Roomba, Neato & LG Hombot (red dual-eye older model).
I've written on this forum before that Neato doesn't pick sand properly. Despite the vacuum motor is powerful. Reason: single brush.
I've also written on this forum before that my Hombot vacuum exhaust wind is almost non-existent, and there's not a lot of dust collected for my entire 1st floor (living, dining, guest room) after 1 wk. Reason: single brush & low power vacuum.
Roomba picks more dust & dirt in 1 run in the rooms. Reason: Patented dual-brush system & vacuum suction power between Neato & LG.

As for navigation, Roomba doesn't use Laser (Neato) or Cameras (LG, iClebo, Samsung).
This is good & bad. Good bcos there's no sky high parts to replace if fail. Bad bcos Roomba relies on "bump-to-know" way of exploring like Blind Man.

Long term reliability... I think lotsa Roomba users in this forum will agree, it's durable.
Then how come still got so many people come to me for repairs, robbing me of sleep? Cos iRobot has sold 8 million worldwide, and S'pore users are plentiful. FYI, even those who bought from S'pore Agent come to me for repairs once warranty expired.
Word of mouth sends people in my direction, and since I don't charge exorbitant fee, the referring cycle goes on & on.

I do agree on the part where roomba picks up the most fine debris as it has the most aggressive counter-rotating brush system & it will visit an area an average of 3-4 pass picking up what had been left off in a single pass.

However, I also would like to commend that the LG square picks up a tremendous amount of dust too but that'll takes like a few days run maybe because the bin is larger. Roomba will almost be like full every run especially when it was first introduce into the family and it never fails to impressed anybody with just one maiden run even though it does not have a systematic cleaning pattern.

It does not cost much electricity bill even on a daily run basis and that is what makes roomba superior as it picks up tremendous amount of dust and debris. Though it may miss out some spot at times, the regular run will ensure thorough cleanup as it miss out a little here today, tomorrow it'll pick it up. Now who has the energy and time to drag out the dyson, osim or even the $3k rainbow vacuum cleaner everyday?

I have never use a Roboking but been a roomba user for quite a while. Totally agree that watching roomba run around can be pretty annoying and yes it does appear dumb cos' it is going all over the place but if you have use it before, I don't think Roomba will actually miss some areas of the room. It clean a room pretty decently, unless you have a really big room. The trick I realise is you have to segregate your cleaning to maybe 2 parts if the house is say bigger than a 5 rm flat ...

used my romba 760 for the 1st time in kitchen.. really random hahah.. but within 10 min of the random motion , the 760 actually covered 98% of my kitchen... Just left out a small corner ..

so if i leave it there for 15-20 min per room.. i will say 100% coverage

but a bit noisy hahaha

hahaha true true.. BUT must rearrange some of my furniture 1st..

yesterday just discovered that the 760 can only clean half of my master bedroom.. no noe why it cannot clean the other half (that half is not block)... Maybe is the arrangement of my chairs/stool... i rearranged leh.. Today will try it..

Does any one has this problem?? Missed cleaning a BIG portion of the room
