If you have TKD black belt prior to serving ns, they will likely request you to help out during unarmed combat session

Back then he's super fit & muscular, other than showing us how to spar, he and his instructor too perform kicking and hitting bricks and wood

yup, becos u asked for why. SAF didnt just endorsed TKD out of the blue.
SAF endorsed TKD becos their unarmed combat ish based off TKD and not from any other martial arts.

Different between TKD & Unarmed Combat, though both also have similar sparring session & both also require to take test but the latter empathise more on how to disarm someone with weapon say knife or Baton/Stick

I believe chen tian wen got martial art background one. You watch last time sbc drama got one he quite satki one, the drama is 勇者無懼 I think.
