Driving an 09 lexus is250 here

It's the perfect car for me. Super zero problems at all, amazing.

Insurance cost me $1000 this year with Aviva.

I plan to keep it beyond the 10 years.

My dashboard and interior rubber still as good as new. Never melt. I park in Shaded car park everyday. Maybe that's why

Saw IS250 on sales for below 80k for 10 years(extend COE).

Also saw Mercs too, there are C and E class for around the same pricing too. Will Mercs be a better deal? Considering that Mercs are rather durable with reasonable maintenance as compared to BMW or Audi.

Lesser road tax for Mercs too, 1.8 litres as compared to 2.5 litres. Fyi road tax increases by 50% from year 5 to 10 too so it's quite a difference for IS250.

Btw is the maintenance for Merc significantly higher than Lexus?

I have the same dilemma, any advise from the pros?

i own a lexus (not the is250), and also a toyota. it's not expensive to service and very little headaches. i follow my manual very closely for servicing needs. parts are easily available and not expensive to replace (use your own trusted mech if the warranty is over, else ask around, people here lobang many many). been driving up to melaka, kl and ipoh quite a lot of times in the past 8 years, n so far no issues and very comfortable ride. for me, it's all about reliability, and i trust toyota brand.

i think merc would be a better buy (i dont hear much complains from people who owns them) if u wanna compare it with bm, jag, audi, vw or what not.

You don't hear the complains from merc owner because
1)most of them don't surf forum.
2)the price range is mostly out of range for those people whose budget is near those low-end vag/bmw, so mostly you'll only hear people who have low budget but want a relatively powerful car e.g. VW
3)occasional down-time and repairing is a pinch of salt to them.

With that said, I'm not implying that merc is reliable/unreliable. Each model have its fair share of problem.

Buy Merc lar. IS250 same price as Merc. No brainer for people with money. Why bother about maintenance if you are willing and able to fork out the money for such an expensive car.

Driving is250 really a good car. Test drive so many cars (Gla,318,a4, jag, etc) none is as quiet as the IS.

No major problem, usual wear and tear and parts can purchase from stockist.

you are a brand *****. it is not about maintenance, it is about reliability and the drive ability. I've drove both make before, Lexus really win hands down and hence they are able to command such a premium.

I like IS250. Very well insulated, good materials inside. 2.5L v6 is creamy smooth, not very powerful though, car is not that light to begin with. Space wise, it's quite compact inside. 6 speed AT does it job well, but tiagong a few IS250 owners gearbox uplorry near 7 yr mark so be careful about it.

In terms of driving dynamics, it's not gonna get your heart beating fast or put a smile on your face when driving it hard. But as a comfortable cruiser, it's pretty good (nvr test current model so not sure) :o
