I personally don't mind, but some people don't like 1. Tray CPU and 2. Buying from China. Reason is 1. Tray is for OEM, AMD will not cover warranty issues for individual users, only thru the OEM. So anything wrong u need to go back to the seller. 2. AMD Singapore does not cover China parts.

The price is good but see whether you can accept these things lor.

If its BNIB and the price includes import tax and logistics, that's a steal....
The Ryzen 3600 is ok, avoid those AMD 4600H some batches have issues with the iGPU.

Forgot to add, make sure you're buying a new tray CPU and not a "拆机" version. Those are refurbished set, which yes can be even cheaper, but again, see whether you can accept. Given that 3600 is in the 3rd year now, is quite possible that cheap unboxed CPU are refurbished set.

U seems to understand the ecosystem very well, only tiongkok has this recycling of ewastes from the whole world, and then repackage it on TB... not a bad thing... but instead of burn it down and extract the gold, they sell it with 100% margin... :s22:

The magic of buying from Taobao is you can find almost anything under the sun. Problem tho is that sometimes SG buyer not realistic. Want cheap want good, in this world very hard to find, especially when it comes to tech. You get what you pay for. Want cheap want fast then prepare to make some compromise lor.. if not then stick premium retail.. ;)

honestly for cpus, there is realistically not much reason to be afraid of used parts. cpus are pretty hardy parts and very rarely, if ever, u will even encounter a defective one, even after years of use. personally daily driving a used 2013 xeon, no issues for the past 2 years. see specs -->

anyway, @ts, i feel cpu shouldnt be the main point of concern, is just whether u are willing to lose the local warranty support for the mobo for ~$200 saving. i would say it would be worth it, since u are saving about 40% of what u would pay locally.

Hi sorry to hijack but I also want to try and upgrade my i5 4690 to i7 4790K, since now confirm no more set with warranty, so I thought of buying from taobao, do you all know what’s the difference between option 5 and 6? I don’t understand why one option states “New”?

I’ve done this before. To cool the 4790k I think u end up needing to get an aftermarket cpu cooler. I sold the 4790k in the end as the mobo gave way. You’re better off getting a b550+3600. Should perform better for single core and you get additional 2 cores. And you just pay additional 200-250 (on top of the 200+ you will spend on a second hand 4790k), not including ram.

i highly doubt it is boxed, if so most sellers will indicate 盒装 rather than 全新. in the listing details, there is also this image:

which clearly shows all the "brand new" 4790ks as tray units. probably just the seller trying to earn a quick buck by positioning them as more valuable by virtue of them being new, which we cannot independently verify.

Tray also can be new. Nothing wrong with it. Tray units are sold to OEMs and not retail customers, that's all.

Buy from Caurosell, take note between i5 and i7 depends on what you do.
If you are running program with need for higher core count than i7.
Gaming wise, it depends on the title not all games support hyperthreading.

Between i5 and i7 difference is i7 have 4 cores with hyperthreading.
Some games i5 4690 will run fine, I'm stil using this CPU but K version.

New = new
No new = refurbished

I see, alright thanks

I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo currently for my i5 4690 non K, not wanting to get any new mobo and/or processor cos I still want to be on Windows 7, even though I acknowledge that I might not be getting any security updates...

The last time I checked Carousell they were all selling as a mobo+cpu combo though, I will check again later

Partly I also want to see if I can reduce the lag because I have about 100 browser tabs open 😅

i dont have a problem with tray cpus per se, in fact, all of the systems ive built so far use tray cpus. is just that i dont believe that this seller is indeed selling brand new cpus and i feel he's just trying to rip ppl off, even if its just a $15 delta. cannot be that these once top of the line cpus have been sitting somewhere unused for at least 4 years.

also @wolnavi, a ram upgrade may be more beneficial for ur use case.

100 browser tabs? You have to add more memory.
FYI you can get brand new DDR3 RAM from Fuwell.
