Tenjin is a 2-day event. 24-25 July.
Saw this, immediately cancel off the USJ trip, dont want to queue hours under the hot sun

any tips on best viewing spots for the fireworks?

also for those that climbed fuji before, how do you bring back the walking stick? i dont think can carry on, neither is it small enough to put in any luggage

I didn’t catch the fireworks. We watched the fire/boat procession instead. You can try Sakuranomiya Park.

You’ll probably need to check in the stick as non standard luggage.

Check-in the stick, oxygen tank can't bring back.

Got stopped at airport guard for bag check though :s13:

with that in mind, as well as the hot summer weather for considerations, can recommend what other places in osaka or kyoto we can visit?

any suggestions on good spots for gion and tenjin matsuri? especially for the fireworks. did i miss out anything on the 2 festival?

i am thinking of heading up umeda sky building on 25/7 night to see fireworks, dunno if can see from there and whether will be super crowded.

Thanks :)

How about Osaka Museum of Housing and Living 大阪くらしの今昔館? Or see if there are any exhibitions that interest you both? Eg. Beer Fest Osaka 2019, Doraemon-Ten Osaka 2019, Summer Festa Minoo Park 2019, etc.

thanks for the link! :)

Doraemon sounds good... my wife is a fan of doraemon

No problem. I also went for seasonal exhibitions in Tokyo for my past two trips.

Here’s the link to the exhibit for Doraemon.

I going the popular yoshida trail.

Wish you luck for clear sky for sunrise. Mine wasn't clear and i did the Fujinomiya trail.

I took too much break at the stations for fear of altitude sickness and couldn't made it to my reserved one.

Best to stay at the final station as night trek is no fun, i got lost halfway.

Final part is quite steep but the view is amazing if clear.

Depends. We went up halfway, pouring despite good weather at the fifth station. Ended up the SO caught a cold halfway so we stayed at the lodge on the seventh station. Just be prepared and certain parts were rocky and slippery due to the rain.

Hi, will the following itinerary be ok? Travelling in December with a sibling. First time in japan. So far I have only booked air tix into and out of kix. Will look into booking Accomodation next but before that, I hope to check if the below itinerary is sound:

Day 1 to 5: base in Osaka

Day 1: From Kix to Osaka (plane reach kix at 5.30pm). Check into Osaka hotel at Namba area. Dinner at Namba area.
Day 2: explore Osaka (no concrete plans yet, keeping it free and easy)
Day 3: day trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima
Day 4: explore Osaka or do day trip to Kobe
Day 5: explore Osaka (free and easy)

Day 6 to 10: base in Kyoto

Day 6: check out of Osaka hotel. Move into Kyoto accommodation at kawaramachi. Explore shopping area around hotel.
Day 7: explore Kyoto shrines (free and easy)
Day 8: Day trip to Nara
Day 9: continue exploring Kyoto (free and easy)
Day 10: some shopping then back to kix for flight at 3pm

Reason for wanting to change accommodation is cos I wanted a change of environment, else 9 nights at the same environment can be too boring.

Thanks for any advice.

@Hopeful33

Why dont stay at least a night at Hiroshima, daytrip is very touch and go.

Miyajima torii gate is under renovation though, if your intention is just for that maybe u might wan to plan for other attractions instead like himeji?

Looks good, very relax.

How about activating on 1st day straight away, day 3 night return to stay at Nagoya?

Day 7 can consider a day trip to Gamagori or Inuyama?

When is ur travelling period because i see from japan guide Nagoya Castle's main keep is scheduled to be reconstructed, expected to be torn down from autumn 2019. Anyway if you are into castle, the original 1 in Inuyama might appeals more to u.
