Japan Sample Itinerary thread

Hi all. Anyone can suggest some good family friendly places in Osaka and Tokyo for baby 13months?

Initially planned spa world and the ode onsen in Osaka n Tokyo. But it seems to expensive if just go inside swimming.. So thinking what other alternatives good for kid.

I don't think the baby will be able to play or enjoy much. More like colorful places/swimming pool will be good for her.

Not going for Disney land/sea any theme park. As she won't be able to play.wife n myself also won't be able to play

i am bringing my 14 month old to tokyo next week .. IMHO at this age they dont appreciate any place ... so what i did is plan where the adult wanted to go ..instead of kids ... i will skip onsen cos she wont enjoy we also cant enjoy just like disneyland ... but i include alot of parks for her ... so that she can walk and run and enjoy the sakura hopefully or plum blossom ...

i also include aquarium visit ..

i will let you know how it goes .. hopefully my itinerary is ok for the 14 months old and 5 years old .. and my old back will ache will all the carrying

Suggestion what can i do in the am?
was thinking of one of the areas such as:
1. Tokyo Imperial Palace
2. Tokyo Govt Building
3. Odaiba scenery

We would be buying the 7D JR Pass from the 1st day on.

Would it be advisable to purchase the Hakone Pass for day 4-6?

Need help on Day 3, 7 & 10. Not sure if its all do-able as it is my 1st time there. Looking at the jp forecast, likely i can catch hanami at the tail end of my trip in Tokyo, that is our main purpose.

Appreciate ur advise. Thx in advance

[yes, it is doable. since u have JR pass, u can take shinkansen to Himeji, which takes about 1hr. if u start early, u will probably still have time for fushimi inari]

[Tokyo metro gov building is in Shinjuku, so u can do it in day 6.
if u are planning to go odaiba, maybe do it on day 9 PM instead. coz odaiba is more beautiful at night. ueno and asakusa can be done in the daytime in day 10]

[it depends where u are going in Hakone. it is worth it if u are taking the ropeway, boat, and bus in hakone. u will have to calculate to see if the transportations u are taking in hakone is worth the price of the pass]

wat time are u planning to reach nishiki market? and wat time to go fushimi inari?
most of the shops in nishiki market closes by 6pm, some even earlier. and fushimi inari probably dun have much to see after dark.

might be better to start with fushimi inari or nishiki market in the morning. and end with gion in the evening where u can see geishas

yup, u can visit Tokyo tower after odaiba. trains ends after 12 within the city, so not a problem

breakfast and dinner are usually included for ryokans, although some have options to exclude meals. but the meals are part of the experience of staying in ryokan, so do try them. furthermore, most ryokan or situation in more ulu places, so there is probably nowhere else to eat anyway.

If u r around Gion in the evening, u can go to pontocho alley (across the river) for a walk or dinner. ( try their ome beef )

If i intend to say @ SHINANOKI ICHINOYU. Should i go there straight from Kyoto or should i go Tokyo and schedule 1 day before leaving tokyo to head over there?

will be better to head there from kyoto coz hakone is along the way from kyoto to tokyo. just take shinkansen and stop at mishima.

also, i personally prefer not to be too far from the airport on my departure day, so i wouldnt put hakone on the last day. in case there is any train delay/breakdown, there are still many other ways to get to airport from tokyo.
last day in tokyo also coz i want to shop and dun want to carry the stuff all over the place
