Ok bro, for this 7 days all japan pass, does it also cover the free attractions which the Kansai Thru pass for 2 days provide? As I will be reaching Osaka on the 5th day, which is still covered by the JR pass right?

As such if I visit the attractions in Osaka, I have to pay the admission fee?

Besides, any good recommendation for accomodation in both Kyoto and Hiroshima? I tried searching but could not come across a good one though.

Would appreciate your help and advice, please.

Thanks.

7-days all-japan pass covers everything. it cost 28300yen

jr pass only covers transport on jr. kansai thru pass do not give u entry to attractions as well. it is osaka unlimited pass that gives u free entry to attractions.

if u dun mind staying in guest house in kyoto you might want to try this
http://gh-project.com/e/home.html quite a nice place and good price as well.. i stayed there and rented their bicycle to cycle all around kyoto..

Hi evil bro,

ok so this will be my draft itinerary for travel on 7 Sep 11 - 16 Sep 11

Day 1
- Flight from Singapore to Kansai Airport
- Arrival estimated to be 840am.
- Take JR from Kansai Airport to Kyoto
- Visit Nijo Castle, Kiyomizudera, Higashiyama and Kinkakuji.

Day 2
- Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari Shrine and Gion

Day 3
- Take JR to JR Hiroshima Sation
- Visit Miyajima then ascend Mount Misen. Then proceed to Hondori Shopping Street and Okonomiyaki Village.

Day 4
- Hiroshima castle, Peace park, Peace memorial museum and Shukkeien Garden.
Shukkeien closes quite early, at 5pm iirc. i planned for the same 3 places in a day, ended up skipping Shukkeien coz not enuf time. i underestimated the time needed for peace park.. spent quite a lot of time in the peace memorial museum.

Day 5
- Take JR to Osaka.
- Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, Osaka Aquarium, Minami @ Namba and also shop around the Namba area as my hotel is located near that area.
Umeda Sky Building is near Umeda station. so u may wanna put it in day7, together with HEP and Umeda underground shopping.

Day 6
- whole day @ Universal Studios

Day 7
- Shop @ Takashimaya, Daimaru, HEP and the Umeda Underground shopping mall. Then after head to Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade and Dotonbori.

Day 8
- Check out of hotel and do some last min shopping around my hotel, which is @ Namba area.

Bro, any comments on the above draft? Is it too packed? Hope you all can give me some feedback or suggestions as to further improve this.

Thanks!

looks good... shldnt be too packed :)

Thanks for the advice! My family prefers western hotels though.. Any recommendation of a good western hotel located near JR Kyoto Station?

Thanks! :)

me. suxxx... far walk from station. I was there in Winter, the walk back every night after long days out was horrid. There was once i even stopped just to sit down and rest halfway because it was just too cold to continue walking and bought a pack of ciggs just to warm up. Only thing good is the bus to Narita is right outside the hotel. But otherwise, i wldn't recommend staying there. Your window (if u get one) is small. Room is small. Toilet is those moulded plastic type. Nothing much to see on the walk from station to hotel so you kinda feel the distance when walking. Last 2 nights i gave up walking and took taxis from the station back to the hotel. Toyota Crown Majesta cabs rock

here's the room i had:

the main door with my luggage (Mendoza seahawk, not the biggest size but still a check-in luggage) to compare widths:

Previously i stayed at Keio Plaza, nice and big room for Tokyo. Nice view out with free shuttle to disney. But pricey.

I am heading there again in Jan 2012. Booked a stay at Best Western Astina. I don't mind the area and reviews look promising so... fingers crossed.
