Oh that is Super close... some more JR got reserved seating... hmmm Everyday stay osaka then just make day trip to kyoto and nara
Reserve seat is only for limited express haruka train which serves only shin-osaka and tennoji station.
Normal JR train is like our mrt, no reservr seats. But it is only 30min, at most stand all the way loh. Anyway, haruka is only slightly faster coz it is a short distance. And normal train freq much higher, so dun have to wait for haruka

Yeah go alone I ish totally don't mind but go with Wife.... lol better make considerations hahaha

I just booked my tickets with ANA, my 1st time flying with them, heard they are very good also except plane might be old..

i took a more ex air ticket there so become 0035 to 0800 night flight, but let me get to narita faster.

Overnight flight is good, reach there still got a whole day ahead.
If want to take reserved seat on haruka, u can stay near Shin-osaka coz u have direct shinkansen coming from nagoya, and also direct to hiroshima. However, shin-osaka area is less happening compared to umeda and namba, which have lots of shopping and eateries.

So your trip starts from 21 Dec? From 29 Dec to 3 Jan, I'm not sure if you could see much. Everyone would probably be visiting temples and shops are closed.

Nishiki market is generally closed on 31 Dec and opened from 4 January onwards. https://m.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/detail/q1420025139?query=錦市場+年末年始

Malls should be opened on 2-3 Jan for fukubukuro (lucky bags) sales. Individual shops (not all) should be opened from 2 Jan onwards.

Babycat,

I have just booked air ticket (2A2C) to Tokyo/Osaka for 14days.
Never been there and read through this forum but cannot find similar schedules as ours.

Any updated itinerary that can share here?

Dear evilerniex,

I am planning my 1st trip to Japan (Tokyo and Osaka) with my family this December (2A2C). I have not book the flights and hotels and would like to seek your help to review my current plan. Do let me know if you think I need to make any adjustments.

1 Dec Fri - Arrive Tokyo Narita Airport / Haneda Airport (Check in either hotel: Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinkuju / JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Shinjuku / Keio Plaza Tokyo / Hotel Rose Garden Shinjuku). Any comment on these 4 hotels?

2 Dec Sat - DisneySEA

3 Dec Sun – Disneyland

4 Dec Mon – Mount Fuji, Lake Kawaguchi, Takayama Castle Tower and Gotemba Premium outlet (Still cannot decide whether to stay 1 night or just a day trip there)

5 Dec Tues – Osaka via Shinkanzen (Wish to try Ryokan. Looking at Kaneyoshi Ryokan, Namba Dotombori, Osaka or Drop Inn Osaka) Any comment on these 2 Ryokan? Any suggestion where to go upon check-in?

6 Dec Wed – Universal Studio

7 Dec Thurs – Yokohama, Cup noodles museum, Nara Dee Park, Yoshikien Garden, Kasuga Taisha Shrine and Osaka Castle then food trip in Namba area

8 Dec Fri – Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Park (Wish to let my kids experience winter with "snow")

9 Dec Sat – Shibuya (Looking at Dormy Inn Premium Shibuya and Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyo) Any comment on these 2 hotels?
Yoyogi Park, Jingu Shrine, Harajuku, Ometesando, Meiji Shrine, Tokyo Dome City, Pokemon Centre Mega Tokyo at Sunshine City

10 Dec Sun – Odaiba, Return flight to Singapore (Narita)

We are not a temples or museums kind of person and may I know which type of JR pass should I buy cos I am still very confuse with the transport passes…

Many thanks in advance!

Even the normal subway lines or private owned railway trains also faster than Singapore's MRT trains lah haha. :s13:

After you come back from Japan and take MRT you will feel damn waste time. But to be fair subway train ticket costs are more expensive but very punctual in Japan than Singapore.

Help on planning Osaka trip

Hi all,
Booked air tickets to Kansai Airport (4A1C) from second week of December for 10 Days. Tentatively planned the following:

Kyoto 4 Days:
Kiyomizudera
Kinkakuji
Ryoanji
Ginkakuji/Philosopher's Path
Fushimi Inari
Train to Umahori station for Arayashima Scenic Train
Arayashima Bamboo Grove
Nishiki Market
Visit Nara

Osaka 3 Days:
Universal Studio
Cup Noodles Museum
Dotonburi/Shinsaibashi
Himeji
Shopping

Still got 3 days to plan. I feel my family would have enough of temples & shrines from the above. Maybe something scenic and/or something to experience. Preferably don't have to change lodging too many times. What do you guys recommend? Wakayama or Shiga or somewhere else? Appreciate all your feedbacks.

u may want to read this:

u will need the fuji hakone pass if u are going kawaguchi. hakone pass does not cover kawaguchi area.

the pass covers fujikyu and keio bus from shinjuku. chuo bus i think is another company, so not covered.

5th station is not covered, as stated in the website.

and lastly

i will be spending ard sgd 60$ on metro train, 18$ on jr, 6-7$ on toei train..

not sure wat u are asking. whether metro pass worth it?

how about heading to hiroshima, with side trip to miyajima an iwakuni? 3 days just nice to cover these place at a leisure pace

wakayama city is at most a day trip i feel. other than the castle, there isnt much. but if u are exploring wakayama prefecture, which includes kumano region, 3 days is not enuf

was asking if the tokyo metro card (pasmo) alone can b used for toei, metro line and jr line.. kinda find it a chore if i have to use other card like sucia (most places goes is metro line..only few is jr , toei) ...

Generally if it accepts pasmo, it will accept suica as well. I used suica in my last trip, didn't bother with what subway I took, never met any problems.
