Have you been to Japan before actually? Or is this the first time you are buying limited express train ticket individually?

When you want to take limited express trains and shinkansens, what you are paying in total is the standard ticket + limited express/shinkansen ticket + seat reservation (where applicable).

For example, when I bought my shinkansen ticket from Shinjuku to Kanazawa, they gave me two tickets for one trip. One is a standard ticket, and one is the shinkansen ticket. I was to insert both tickets into the fare gate at the same time.

For your case, the romance car booking that you are paying online is only the limited express part. You will still need to buy a standard ticket when you are there in order to board the train.

BTW, if you intend to get the Hakone Freepass, I think it covers the standard ticket portion. I'm not 100% sure though. You should read it up.

first x going. gt read need to insert 2 cards like wat u say .. tat was amazing..
but was not sure on the std ticket part itself.. puzzled why no option to combine the std ticket and limited ticket together.. jin confusing

Yes no option to buy a combination ticket. It's just how their fare system works.

Depends on which line u taking. But generally those within city ones all packed. Especially the metro line.

So u usually i choose hotel with breakfast, slowly eat breakfast already then go out. Or find a hotel that have eateries nearby that are open in the morning

suggest u check out BumblebeeMum's blog about travelling in Hokkaido, she does it with kids & have useful itineraries

then can ask specific questions here again

Off-hand, I think 7D for first trip is fine.
There will still be a fair bit of snow in Mar in Hokkaido.
Depends where u r going - Some places (eg Otaru, Asahikawa) are easily accessible by public trains from Sapporo. Within Sapporo no need to drive.
If u want to explore further, driving is more flexible.
For 7D, I dont think u need to drive. Base in Sapporo & do day trips.

Hi Japan Experts,

I am trying to plan an itinerary using 7 days JR pass. Trying to explore as much areas as possible on the JR line.

Day 1
Flight to Narita (Tokyo)
Straight JR to Nagoya

Day 2-3
At Nagoya

Day 4-6
JR to Kyoto
JR to Nara also

Day 7 (still staying at Kyoto i think)
Day trip to Hiroshima if possible
And back to Tokyo

Day 8-10
Use their Suica card.. JR no longer required.

Can advise to improve?

day trip to hiroshima is going to be very rush, specially since u need to travel back to tokyo. u probably need to return to ur hotel to get ur luggage, or carry them with u to hiroshima.

personally i would drop nagoya to have more time in hiroshima, maybe staying a night there

Any specific place u have in mind for nagoya? Coz i find nagoya city nothing much to see.
Hiroshima can spend maybe 2 days or more.. 1 day for miyajima, another day for peace park and the rest of the city

i tot hiroshima is visit quite fast and should end in half a day.. i did consider miyajima but not sure can squeeze in or not..

actually i wld like to ask experts here also, for first day straight flight to narita then straight take JR to nagoya, will it be extremely tired?

The tori gate in miyajima is considered the top 3 scenic sight in japan. So it is worth a visit if u are going Hiroshima.

Really depends on personal preference loh. Hiroshima and miyajima will be more sightseeing, nature, and museum. Nagoya will be more cityscape, Toyota museums

If really want to squeeze Hiroshima as a day trip, it is possible, just not on the day u heading back to Tokyo lah.

If possible, stay a night at Hiroshima, then the next day on the way back to kyoto, still can visit himeji

morning 8am flight.. so reach narita already 4pm++
I think it is ok. Can rest on the plane. Then train ride is 1+hr from narita to shinagawa by narita expres, then 2hr by shinkansen to nagoya. U will be taking reserved seats for the trains, so can rest also. And by the time checkin hotel in nagoya, can go for quick dinner then sleep already
