Fuji Hakone pass to cover all transport in the 2 areas sounds great. but I think it will make sense to just head back to tokyo from Kawaguchiko then? so my JR pass will be utilised only on day 3 from tokyo to kyoto and day 7 (kyoto to odawara station)

yes, it will be better to return to tokyo to fully utilise the JR pass. however, if u want to explore the area more, u can always stay a night coz the highway bus from kawaguchiko to tokyo is only 1750yen. dun have to be too constrained by the JR pass

yup i was thinking of staying for a night in kawaguchiko. then head back to tokyo the next day by the bus..

in that case, u may want to recalculate and see if JR pass is still worth it.

osaka day trip: 2 x 560
nara day trip: 2 x 710
kyoto to mishima (for hakone): 11300
total: 27640yen

total is less than the cost of JR pass of 29110yen. but tt depends on wat other trip u make, such as within osaka. also, the difference not a lot, so it may be a good idea to get the JR pass for the convenience and flexibility. e.g. last minute decide to head to himeji or kobe after going nara

yes, from mishima is by bus.
but i forgot tt u are going fuji as well. fuji-hakone pass can be purchased in odawara, but not in mishima coz mishima is not covered by the pass. so u are correct to go to odawara

27 dec seems quite packed. after travelling from hokkaido to tokyo, still have to check-in hotel. probably half a day gone. harajuku need half day or more if u are going meiji shrine.

since ur flight is at midnight, u got almost the whole day to sightsee. asakusa is better done on 28dec though coz it is near ueno.

the observatory at bunkyo civic centre near tokyo dome is worth a visit. tokyo dome itself, i personally didnt think there is much there. but tt depends on wat u want to do or see.

odaiba u can stick to ur current plan on 31dec

For my flight from Tokyo to Sapporo and Sapporo to Tokyo, is it better to purchase the air tickets from peach airlines, jetstar japan? Will the cost be cheaper? I checked the multi cities for ANA and JAL. during the period, ANA is $4000+ and JAL is $3700 for 2 adults and 1 child

i think harajuku + shibuya on 27dec is a bit rush. maybe just stick to shibuya on 27 and put harajuku on the last day? but of coz u can play by ear and decide where to go when u are there.

just check which is the cheapest for domestic flight? not sure if peach have a tokyo to sapporo flight coz they operate out of osaka. but it have been a while since i last took peach, so not sure if they have added more routes.

This question you can easily check for yourself, no?

Anyway last October I paid ¥18,220/pax for return ticket including 25kg baggage on Jetstar Japan (NRT-CTS).

For tokyo, mayb u can check Hotel Century South tower. Rates are slightly cheaper than Gracery shinjuku and have a good location. Bonus is u can see mt Fuji from your room on a clear sky day.

Ryokan stay at hakone will be good experience.

already booked tix for dec ..10 days trip but will spend 4 days at niseko
ideal prefer to return back to tokyo a day earlier hence i am left with 5 days to do tourist stuff lolz ..
