Has anyone been to Fukui? Is there alot to do there? I'm torn between 2 scenarios:
1) Driving direct to Fukui from Gifu to spend 3D2N there
2) Drive further north to Toyama and swing by Kanazawa before going to Fukui for 2D1N
I went to Tsuruga via public transport during foliage season. 3D2N. The full day I had was spent at Mitaka Goko and the Michi no Eki Wakasa Mihama Hamabiyori. Both locations were serviced by the same loop bus. Visited popular local eats and some of the attractions in Tsuruga.

That's quite far away from Fukui.

Ah you meant Fukui station area, rather than Fukui Prefecture. The above mentioned is within Fukui Prefecture. Not familiar with that area.

Few things come to mind: Fukui Dinosaur Museum, Tojinbo, and Echizen Ono Castle. And Echizen crab. 😆

Yah was planning to go to the dinosaur museum, the knife village and visit the fish market.
Thought a full day there would suffice, not sure if there is anything else to do.
You did give me some ideas but I’m still not sure it warrants staying another additional day in the prefecture.

Dear all

intend to spend about at least 10 days in Hokkaido, with final 3 nights in Sapporo town.

For the 1st 7 days, i am planning to cover the usual central Hokkaido areas.

Beyond Central, I am also contemplating to either drive to Hakodate (3 hrs+ complicated drive south from Sapporo) or Wakkanai (most northern city, 4hrs+ easy drive north from Sapporo).

Any suggestion if i should travel south or north?

OR should i skip both Hakodate and Wakkanai due to the long drives?
And instead venture into western fringes of East Hokkaido i.e., Tokachi (Obihiro) and the Akan-Mashu area?

Any comment/ suggestion is welcome.

TIA

When you going? depend on season.
Hakodate is famous for Goryōkaku, no flower season not worth going. And Mt. Hakodate
Lake Toya highly recommend but good hotel is expensive, so 1 night enough.
Otaru good for buying food and souvenir.

Kumamoto --- Udo Shrine, Aoshima (Day Trip)
Mt Aso, Shirakawa Spring (Day Trip)
Yanagawa (Day Trip)
Takachiho Gorge, Amaterasu Railway, Amanoyasukawara Shrine (Day Trip)

Kurokawa/Yufuin/Beppu --- Relax at Onsen and local walk around

On the way from Beppu back to Fukuoka... Kyushu Wildlife Safari

Fukuoka will be all the usual hotspots... Dazaifu, Nanzo-in Temple, Lala Port, Shopping at various spots etc...

Going Fukuoka in Dec and plan to explore Kyushu area, mainly

Takachiho Gorge and Beppu

Any other places to explore? Tentatively spending around 6 days in Kyushu.

Have booked accommodation for Fukuoka and Beppu, planning to spend a couple of days to explore Hakata and city surrounding, then drive to Gorge and onwards to Beppu

Haven't done much planning on what else to do, eventually will take JR from Beppu towards Hiroshima.

This will be my 7 days Tokyo itenary. I just planned for 5 days cause the first and last day is transit from Singapore and back.

Day 1: Historic East Tokyo & Pop Culture (Asakusa, Skytree & Akihabara)

Morning (Asakusa): Take the Ginza Subway Line (direct from Ueno, 5 mins) to Sensō-ji Temple. Stroll Nakamise Street early before heavy crowds arrive. Align at Asakusa Station and out at Exit 1 or Exit 3

Afternoon (Skytree): Walk across the Sumida River or take the Tobu line to Tokyo Skytree for panoramic views.

Evening (Akihabara): Take the Hibiya Line or JR Yamanote Line back to Akihabara (just 1 stop from Ueno) to explore electronics, anime stores, and arcades before walking or taking a quick train home to your hotel.

Day 2: Modern & High-Energy West Tokyo (Harajuku & Shibuya)

Morning (Harajuku): Take the JR Yamanote Line direct from Ueno Station to Harajuku Station (~25 mins). Walk through Meiji Jingu Shrine and stroll down Omotesando Avenue.

Afternoon (Shibuya): Walk south down Cat Street into Shibuya to experience Shramble Crossing and take in views from Shibuya Sky.

Evening (Shibuya / Ueno): Grab counter-style ramen or tonkatsu in Shibuya, then take the Yamanote Line directly back to Ueno.

Day 3: Tsukiji Food Market & Immersive Art (Tsukiji, Toyosu & Ginza)

Morning (Tsukiji): Take the Hibiya Subway Line direct from Ueno to Tsukiji Station (~12 mins). Walk through Tsukiji Outer Market for fresh tamagoyaki, sushi bowls, and seafood skewers.

Afternoon (Toyosu / teamLab): Take the Yurikamome line to teamLab Planets TOKYO for interactive digital art exhibits.

Evening (Ginza): Head to Ginza (on the Ginza Line direct back toward Ueno) for boutique browsing and department store basement food halls (depachika).

Day 4: Coastal Day Trip to Historic Kamakura

Day Trip Logistics: Walk to JR Ueno Station and hop on the JR Ueno-Tokyo Line direct to Kamakura Station (~55 minutes, no transfers needed).
Highlights: Visit Kotoku-in to view the Great Buddha, stroll through Komachi-dori Street for snacks, and ride the scenic Enoden coastal train toward Enoshima.

Return: Take the direct train back to Ueno Station for a relaxed evening near Ameyoko.

Day 5: Parks, High Views & Shinjuku Nightlife

Morning (Ueno & Shinjuku): Start with a peaceful walk around Ueno Park and Shinobazu Pond right outside your hotel. Then take the Yamanote Line to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.

Afternoon (Shinjuku): Visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Nishi-Shinjuku for free observation deck views across Tokyo.

Evening (Shinjuku / Ameyoko): Explore the lantern-lit alleys of Omoide Yokocho or Golden Gai in Shinjuku, or head back to Ueno to finish your trip with street-food dining along Ameyoko Market.

I only worried of getting around cause this is my first diy trip ti Tokyo.
