Can I combine Kyoto with Nara ??

depending on how much u want to cover in nara. if u are visiting the places in the city centre, such as the deer park and Todaji temple, then maybe half a day is enuf. but if u want to include Heijo palace as well, then maybe 3/4 day or more due to travelling time.

for day 7, maybe a day trip to Himeji? get 1 day JR kansai pass to cover the trip to Himeji, and also use it to get to airport

u can visit kappabashi for restaurant related products. with shops selling fake display food, food packaging, utensils etc. it is just a short walk from asakusa or ueno.
or u can go jinbocho for books. lots and lots of bookshops there.

how about making a side trip out of Tokyo, such as to Ibaraki?

Thanks.....

yes, for day 3 u can go umeda in the evening after visiting nara. other than shop and eat, u can also visit umeda sky building.

different passes. kansai thru pass is for non-JR trains. u shld be getting the JR kansai area pass, which have a 1day version for 2200yen:

u can calculate how much u will be spending on transport each day, and see if the pass is worth it.
most likely u will only need the pass for Himeji. day trip to nara is 2x800yen and to Kyoto is 2x600yen. both will not justify the cost of the pass, which avg about 1800yen per day for the 3 day version (5300yen) and 2150yen per day for the 2 day version (4300yen)

[castle will probably take u only the morning. u can visit aquarium in the afternoon and umeda in the evening]

Day 3 - Nara day trip, evening back to Osaka to shop- usually it need to take how long to tour Nara ?
[as I mentioned earlier, it depends on how much u want to cover. half to 3/4 day shld be sufficient]

Day 4 - Osaka USS

Day 5 - Kyoto, any suggested itinerary will still be staying at Osaka
[the popular places to visit will be kinkakuji, kiyomizudera, nijo castle, nishiki market]

Day 6 - Kyoto, plan to go Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama, any other place I can go after the monkey park?
[arashiyama have a lot of other things to see, such as the bamboo grove, sagano rail, togetsukyo bridge]

Day 7 - Night flight 930pm. Any recommendation other then himeji castle ?

Hi all. I just need a little advice on the transportation in Japan. I am travelling to Japan on 22nd Dec 2015 till 1st Jan 2015. My draft itinerary looks something like this.

22nd Dec - Arrive Haneda Airport. Travel to Kawaguchiko station
23rd Dec - Kawaguchiko
24th Dec - Tokyo (staying in Shibuya area)
25th Dec - Tokyo
26th Dec - Day trip to Nikko
27th Dec - Tokyo
28th Dec - Full day disneySEA
29th Dec - Tokyo
30th Dec - Tokyo
31th Dec - last day.

My question is, for this kind of itinerary, do I need to purchase a JR Pass? I read that JR Pass is worth it if you are traveling inter city like from Tokyo - Hiroshima, Tokyo - Osaka. As the only "longer" trip i will be taking is from Haneda airport to Kawaguchiko and tokyo to Nikko, i am not sure if it will be worthwhile to buy a JR Pass.

not going to be worth it to get the 7-day JR pass which cost 29110yen.
JR passes doesn't cover all the way to kawaguchiko, only up to otsuki. u may want to consider taking train to Shinjuku and taking bus to kawaguchiko. may be easier coz lesser transfer.

there are various passes for lake kawaguchi u can consider:

there is also the all-nikko pass u can consider

I think it shld be ok if u are starting early and dun intent to hiking thru all the torii gates in fushimi inari. the hike itself would have taking 2-3hrs.

it is better to visit nagoya on the way to kyoto since nagoya is between tokyo and kyoto. if u are not staying a night there, u can put ur luggage in a locker when visiting the city.

if not, u can visit nagoya from kyoto instead since it is much nearer to kyoto than to tokyo.

for just 7 days, i would actually advice u to stick to kanto region and save on the JR pass.

but if ur hotels are already booked then u can only make day trips out from either tokyo or kyoto. how about travelling to kyoto earlier on 27/11 so u still have almost the whole day for kyoto, then use another kyoto day for the day trip to nagoya?
for day trip from tokyo, u can consider saitama, ibaraki or nikko.
