Anyone use M1 Daily Passport overseas roaming instead of Japan SIM in Tokyo? was wondering how is the network speed and connectivity compared to Japan SIM

Check m1 uses which Japanese provider. Docomo and SoftBank should be fine.

Unfortunately my phone does not support eSIM (IKR....) but it seems a lot of people buy physical Sim cards through Klook rather than through the physical stores.....why is that? Price difference?

Not sure how much klook sells for but can buy from shopee using vouchers and delivery to doorstep or letterbox.

buy and throw away after holiday

esim is installed into the phone system. you can remove/uninstall, but to if wanna use again, you have to set it up or register all over again. Sounds easy but is additional steps that some find it a hassle

then because difference esim companies offer difference prices and you know we always like to chase for the cheapest and bestest so we jump here and there lol. physical sim is easier in that sense. imo

Most of the Japan esims on Shopee throttle to <100Mbps during night times.

Anyone knows whether the Ubigi or Saily ones are similar? Or are there any recommendations for Shopee ones that can still hit >100Mbps at night?

Also such Shopee sims cannot access sites like Tiktok and corporate/company apps, due to the IP restriction; need to temporary use back your local SG sim, before switching over to it again. Any idea whether Ubigi or Saily or any Shopee options can circumvent this?

not sure about IP restriction but I think I saw a recent Ubigi email saying they added the feature to change geolocation in the Ubigi app.

I’ve used Ubigi the last few trips. no throttling, 5G almost everywhere. it’s solid stuff.

Just to share, I have used this physical sim to enable eSIM function for phone that does not support eSIM.
It works in Japan for Docomo eSIM

Hi all,

Am going Japan next week for 9 days and not sure if my existing 2GB International Roaming offered by SIMBA/ Eight will be sufficient for the entire trip...

Have a Prolink Mobile WiFi Router (PRT7011L), so thinking of buying a Data-only SIM card to put inside for family members to share and access should our Telco's quota got used up during the trip.

Does anyone have any similar usage experience to share and suitable Vendors (Shopee or others) that sell such SIM cards to recommend? Many thanks in advance!

Regards.

your SG mobile plan don’t have free roaming? my 12gb free roaming came in clutch. was connected to SoftBank 5G most of the time so didn’t need to use Ubigi this time.
