The shop itself. :)

Total purchase must be above 10,000 yen (excluding tax) or 10,800 yen (including tax)

10,000 yen is around 120 SGD.

Unlike Singapore where all the listed prices must include GST (except F&B), check carefully as some shops in Japan include tax in their listed price whereas some don't.

imo point #2 can totally throw out. iso9001/14001 don't mean anything. :D

If you plan ahead, I think $500 or slightly less is doable for plane ticket. Accommodation, if you aren't fussy, can make do with $50-100 per day (depending which day of the week) by staying in business class hotels. Business hotels are actually during weekends.

If it's just to buy the Stax 009, I think just order from pricejapan IMO. Although Japan shops do stock it, it's not as common as you might think. Also be aware the amps will be in 110v.

If you shop at Yodobashi, there is a loyalty card that you can use in addition to the tax rebate. You get points that you can redeem for next visit - due to this, you might not be able to use on the same visit so it's worthwhile to share amongst friends. Some of us in another forum do this.
