Terrible weather. Still haven't 9am and it's already 38.6 deg C heat index temp
30.4deg C 79% RH

My home-office run even though just ~ 1km already terok, need to wash up a bit before starting work + blow mini fan in aircon to cool down and drink iced milo from pantry
such climatic conditions. better take it easy and cool down gradually.

I am in Pen B as well :) But this year aiming for 3:20. The thought was maybe try to go for sub 1:30 HM then go slow last half but I think just gonna stick with 3:20 goal since last 2 SCSM DNF.
See you on Dec hahaha.
3:20 should be achievable for you, especially since this year is quite flat and no more WCH and sheares bridge.

Can't say for this year but I experienced this with starting at Pen F few years ago and it was quite rabak, I had to run at the side just to overtake and that was my last time starting at last few Pens. Anyways if you're keen on FM, Pen B is still up for grabs i think cause I just registered late few days ago.
can we just randomly change "pen" during actual day? nobody will know right?

Think this weekend the folks here better be mindful, no joke. Run hard + longer distance + weekend long distance warriors (weekdays daytime all AC) = recipe for disaster if not heat trained. Just 3 days ago even just over 2k i was already nearly fully drenched for body, arms and neck and hair all totally wet with a VO2max effort.

Countless times i have seen MBS/GBTB people weekend morning, folks run until sit down at MBS, face red red etc. Over did it and/or not heat trained.
Once got SCDF just outside promonitory, just not sure if it was a heart issue or heat issue.

The new national response plan is a good first step to ensuring people take the threat seriously.

But we should not wait until the national heatwave plan kicks in to start building resilience to heat.

People can start preparing for higher temperatures by, for example, using exercise as a tool to raise tolerance for warmer weather.

how to exercise to raise tolerance for warmer weather?
this summer damn terok for me here in SH, which made me mentally gave up going for runs. Even when i got out to run, i slowed down my pace drastically. 😂

is just keep running in the weather to build up the tolerance. Can just run slower first

nope, ppl don't care. U will have to overtake on your own. First FM pen F if you fast, is a mistake. I made this mistake on my first one too cause of the delay to start and many slow ppl u have to chiong past
No choice. Spur of moment to do it hahaha.

Maybe sign up for FM and try to do sub 90 for HM then easy jog all the way to finish haha. But FM apparel don’t have my sizes anymore

Cannot. They got checkers at every pen to check your bib. But I know of people that sneak into Pen A last time when they are Pen C originally. Not sure how they do that. Maybe they know the checkers or what

Heat index temp south side 10:45am now 42.3 deg C. (32.5 71%)

Think tomorrow i need to cut with my kid by 0915hrs. Will be at Westgate Scarlett at 0930 to eat the liang pi.
Come back that time 10+am with full solar exposure (even warmer) and hot asphalt, maybe just pour water on him, even though RH% is high, still will have a certain cooling effect with 25kmh wind coz there still will be evaporation esp with the lycra materia which "spreads" the water out.

They smart this year, this kind of conditions if slow runner and really still got WCH hot asphalt and unsheltered, is just asking for it. Is no longer mind over body or what.

cool! which part? how do you find it?
Went on a chan brothers east us and canada tour. Went to Toronto, quebec and montreal. I think Toronto is just like any major city but Montreal and Quebec are very chill and beautiful places with the mix of french and english architecture. Quebec wall also still in tact!

Just train, not that different from altitude camp, but is very difficult mentally.
Core temp must heat 38.5 deg C, so need to bring thermometer with you during the session.
