Smell at SK not that bad. I would have ran, but the visual is bad. Under the street lamp, can see the haze is thick. 10 minutes shake out run for the week training will do.

Like China's runners, have to produce their national flag to run across the finishing line.

My area serangoon quite bad but saw like 1 or 2 person still running

This morning's intermission i quick cheonged 3 x 12 mins LT2. Chop chop finished the session.

Now back with the regular haze programming. Dont be surprised, back in 2015 prolonged season, AQI 200 to even over 300 got people running, though not as many of coz. How much additional fitness adaptation wrt work done can you get with your zone 2 easy to LT1 or even LT2 with all that breathed in (causes systemic inflammation and hormonal changes like cortisol spikes as bare minimum), that i do not know. Other than the risk factors.....

Anyway for mid zone 2 , no issue for me i have been wearing KF94. There is no issue since VT1 not crossed over yet, you wont feel that with the KF94 you are gasping for air coz of the resistance, the increase in breathing volume L per min over at rest is linear still. Nowadays i do approx 10-12 hrs of zone 2 per week......so it's not that easy to program the sessions around the haze, considering that i also have to fit in my calisthenics + strengthening/plyometrics stuff so that the interference effect with the cardio work is minimized.

If i were to guesstimate, 3hrs of mid zone 2 = 1hr of LT2 in terms of volume of air breathed.
That's also as what AI says. So zone 2 is more important in terms of protection than my LT2 or microintervals VO2/anaerobic effort sessions (microintervals are remarkably short).

edit - from now till end Oct, probably is next to impossible to fit all that 10-12hrs of zone 2 sessions in per week wo mask, or for others without going indoors. For me i cheapo, so no gym membership. 🤭

If doing just 3-5hrs per week, maybe just scratch the majority of that zone 2 work if dont wanna wear the proper masks but still want to do the easy sessions and dont wanna do indoors (preferably with air purifiers in the gyms or the HVAC AHU is up to task in filtration), dont think it is productive at all esp with the current context of the haze season + risks and not easy to fit into the current haze context.

i saw 1 guy run and wear the mask has some filter

This Totobobo one? Quite popular in exercising circles,,,,,, Relatively low in breathing resistance as well.
Also good for those heavy sweaters. For my KF94, i think can only use for cycling zone 2, plus i also douse my top with ice cold water (compliments of Imbiah station water cooler, ice cold sia).

So i literally dont sweat at all on the face or legs. Basically bone dry.

I actually have a BLS Zero respirator. It's actually even lower in breathing and exhaling resistance than my best KF94 masks.....definitely can use even for LT2 sessions. Will don it if we ever hit AQI 300+
But not suitable for running (coz of the vertical oscillation, quite gang kor due to it being front heavy), but ok for cycling.
AQI 300-400 i don this, then appear on SGRV, confirm and chop........you will know that fella is me liao. 🤭 😅

Seems like the group trainings are stricter. Just found out my Tue night and Wed sessions this afternoon they all cancelled coz they also look at the 24-hr moving avg from NEA. heh....... Currently is PSI 92-133 across the island. (dont mix up with ug/m3 concentration or AQI). This early morning 6am was PSI 105-154.

Guess they dont want the liability should something go wrong and someone really drops.

Hope weekend Sat dont get cancelled.

So gotta DIY I guess , same old if tomorrow morning 1hr readings are past a certain threshold, guess just wear KF94 as per usual....easy sessions of coz.
IF everything cancelled, then we do what...... 🤷‍♂️
Also cant do that much for Calisthenics/strength/plyo..... need 72 - 96 hrs between them for recovery, there's no easy sessions for them.

Today clear , no smell no haze under street lamp. Did a 34 minutes quick run in the stadium.
Tomorrow is my long run, hopefully sky is as clear as this evening.

Tot today WFH can long easy session but noticed that the sun was getting more and more orangey.

2h 45 min cut a bit short at 9am. Sigh....was intending to do 3.5 to 4hrs.

I think next time LL, even easy sessions need to bring KF94 out. And definitely the sessions with my kid coz those can stretch to 4-5 hrs.

Spiked from yellow to orange to red within a span of 30 mins.
