Just wondering, do you guys lift weights and/or train upper body as well ?

Yep using resistance bands (need to use 3 of them now, outgrew the thickest one lol), exercises like push ups (decline, diamond), pogo jumps/calf raises/tibalis raise, curls/rows etc.
I stopped doing isometrics tho.

But i find it to be more useful for cycling?

Anyway...good for functional fitness. Eg yestersay i lifted some basins of waterg. Piece of cake.
Last year...i find it quite taxing

Started my health journey about 15 years ago. That time, simi sai also tried. I have dumbells, kettle belle, pull up bar at home. Also had Active Gym half year pass.. Did the holistic way for about two years with both strengh and cardio, maybe less, but I slowly found myself gravitating towards running only. And now I only run without much strength training .The only strength training I get are those deliberate hill runs I incorporate within my easy days.
wah won't you get injured without any strength training?

Been running >3500km per year for 5 or 6 years.. Injuries sure have. But it is due to overtraining for SCSM. i.e. when I am on a training plan. I can count them, 1X Archilles Tendonitis (drastic change over to minimalist running and Newton running shoes, without gradual mileage built up), 2X shin splint from SCSM training and 1X turf toe from carbon plated shoes..
I know many coaches and internet youtuber teaches this strength training and that to run injury free. But that only protects you for faster and shorter runs where fatigue doesn't set in yet. Long slow runs needs endurance to overcome fatigue. No matter now much strength you built, when you fatigue due to lack of endurance, will get injured. To me the way to train is to have easy runs to build your base, lots of it.

Jin warm night..
Go for jogging 4km 6min30s per km pace.

This kind of weather if run > 2.4k / 3k time trial, i will die first, even in the night after 9pm.
Forget about simi PB.

Only ok and possible for cycling if wanna do higher HR.

Early mornings before 7.30am still can gun for a short hard run.
But I remember once i overheated before for a 10k time trial, felt wierd and light headed, think it was in July.

3500km is impressive feat.

To make it simple for newbies
1) repetitive strain injuries, as the name suggests, comes from overtraining. Overtraining can come from excessive load or volume.

2) to reduce injuries, one can strengthen the supporting tissues by gradually increasing load or volume, while giving adequate time for the tissues to recover.

3) Running form is important to reduce uneven distribution of load on the joints and tissues, so that certain body parts will not suffer overstrain and get injured.

4) Fatigue from long distance running will contribute to poor form, and thus injury risk.

The issue with endurance running, for most newbies, there is too much volume too early leading to fatigue ie. 5x/week even at a low intensity training like zone 2 without adequate rest. Recovery runs may not be recovery for some.

Will try out 5k first. New foldie coming. Then decide if really wanna go more serious in training for duathlon.

Aim for 9.31 min / 31.5kmh for age 55, just for starters and as a gauge.
Think the warm weather is not conducive but then again it's a pretty short distance + biking has more cooling.

Not sure how they derive the fig but i think it's really averaged out for all types of bikes.

Issue is that i need to find a good and safe road to do. The good/safe spots (Seletar/Tanah Merah Coastal Rd) are all very far from my house.

PCN 16kmh running still ok, but this would be like at least 2 times that speed plus the fact that it's not as instantly maneuverable as running.

Lactate Threshold run (5.2km)

Weather was humid yesterday evening and the 1st km was running upslope.

Managed to run 42km last week (x2 of half marathon). Will try to keep to the same mileage from here, since it's good for aerobic training and didn't sign up for any upcoming races.

Indon
But then in group rides peloton style, the ones drafting have as much as 30% savings in power.

Back to morning track sessions but not at 100%. Happy that I hit 3/6 of my 800m at 3:12 (4:00 per km), 2nd last set I was so out of breath and slow that my forerunner thought it was recovery hence the 2nd image. Couldn’t hit any of my 4x400m at (1:30) but was close. Satisfied la with the effort as I’m just back from a cold and this was the first higher intensity run

This year will cut down alot, coz I subscribed to TAO to play play and see if this is will help to reach my goal. Also my first time with a trainer, although not real one, but a AI. . TAO mileage is alot lesser than the high mileage easy days I did in the past. I did very little threshold or interval during those high mileage years. TAO on the other hand has more threshold, interval but lesser overall mileage. Will see the result by the end of the year for SCSM 2024. LOL.
