i was a frequent red bull drinker in my teens and uni period, as coffee had no effect on me. Now i am avoiding it totally due to the side effects.

What side effects did you have with Redbull? For me no side effects, coz basically i use it predominantly on weekends when cycling with my kid nia, and even then is we share a 250ml can. Weekdays is only when early morning go out and only for a harder session and not those zone 2, but quite rare.
If dont drink RB then is hoot instant noodles and minimal soup/powder intake, still not say very healthy. lol.
I used to do Soba noodles, but it got expensive, and nowadays i also try to save (I kena retrenched = game over liao can retire)

Seriously i only hooted 1 full can before I started for T100 standard duathlon (a 2hr race)......was drinking it when cycling to the F1 building which luckily is just 3km away and was also munching gummies at home. Coz difficult to fuel proper with a decent meal 2hrs prior (still would need to wake up very early, despite the race being ard 6-6.10am start for men masters and women starting first at 5.45....those 4.30 FM/HM no need to say liao, crazy how to eat man)

I wonder how many here have issue tearing off the gel packets? I find SIS and most brands I tried like KODA, high 5, they don't tear off easily. Especially worst when I have sweaty palms.
The Maction(迈胜)brand is the first time I was able to tear off easily and consumed it on the go without stopping.

Just cut a bit first. Same goes for Snickers/Mars bars if anyone is using that during training (for cycling need to use teeth liao if one cares about safety and does not want to release 2 hands). For energy bars the cyclists just pop it hard with one hand against the handlebar and can liao. lol
I guess for runners also can, since have 2 hands.

I think the only daily trainer that you can find with 150bucks without major discount is the Adidas SL2

Yeah that would be the only decent trainer. Of coz if got discount on say Zalora or Amazon.sg then also possible la, but need to know what kind of sizing/cutting for that particular pair/model.

42 years old singaporean cyclist on a $20k sworks bicycle fell after hitting a pothole & got ran over quoted A 42-year-old Singaporean male cyclist died in Johor on June 14 after he hit a pothole, fell and got run over by a gravel-laden lorry. Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the incident occurred along Jalan Gunung Pulai. “The victim, who was with three other cyclists, suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement, adding that the 41-year-old lorry driver was unhurt. ACP Tan said the deceased was sent to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim in Kulai for a post-mortem examination. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Earlier, a video clip of the incident, believed to have been recorded by the lorry driver, was widely shared on social media.

redbull to me utilises one's energy reserve in advance. when young one can replenish easily, but as one grows older, the recovery takes longer.
I have a few episodes in life when i experienced utter drainage of my energy and took a week to recover.
i could be wrong but i no longer see the need/enjoyment nor long term benefit.

Cheap daily trainer. Currently china brand most talked about "万金油" shoes is the Li Ning Red Hare 8 Pro and this QD Strong Wind 3TR. And they are cheap, I ordered my QD Strong Wind 3TR for less that 200 yuan GST included and shipped.
Finally China branded shoes can start releasing decent daily trainers. It will be goodbye to western brand soon., I have no western branded shoes on my radar. Except for the Nike VPfly 4 and only if they appear in the outlet at less than $150.

Read a few posts here about QD 3TR so decide to give it a try since it's really affordable (compared to the western brands). I got it for 243 RMB inclusive for air shipment and took 5 days to reach my doorstep. Bought on the 6th evening and arrived on the 11th.

So far, had 2 runs with the shoes. Mostly similar to what the video had said. Soft, some energy return (very little), a smooth ride. The narrow mid sole means the stability may be a tad lesser and I can feel it since my stability isn't the best. Toe box is big enough for me and you may want to buy half a size bigger.

Very reasonable daily trainer at this price point (200-240 RMB). Was surprised that the video mentioned the shoes cost 130 AUD on AliExpress. They have a bad deal...

Those federal roads are full of heavy vehicles and some will try to overtake by cutting into adjacent oncoming lane.
Sad for the cyclist.

Trunk roads scary. The only memory i have is that 3 times i was in a tour bus to Genting, many decades ago. (think that time before NSH time).
Even car i also dont dare to drive in, much less cycle.

Also full of !@#!@# potholes. Whenever i cycle on unfamiliar roads/routes here i never exceed 25kmh coz only after like 5 times then would you remember what holes what condtiions @ which stretch. Plus at night i have rather powerful (high lux) lights with vertical cut off so that i can best illum the road surface.

High chance also did not see the fella and just split attention/focus on the other front rider and for a moment missed this rear rider. Full on center makan. Either that or super reckless and just gave a few metres space to the rear rider.

Also no thanks to the clothings. You know the usual dull colours of PNS etc. Camouflaged against the black asphalt / greenery/muddy etc

Daytime visible rear lights would have helped heaps, of coz not 100% but helps a lot. Esp crucial when the sun is really out and shining into the drivers' eyes, eg on some parts of West Coast Highway towards city 7.30-9am esp during the Q4/Q1 of the year when it is shining directly into the drivers' eyes. Actually Alexander Rd / Ganges Ave towards city also.
Of coz there are some cyclists (even other groups) who hate this and you might get some hate esp at the lights, but that's another story.

While waiting for Bmai fly to reach Singapore, I was curious to try jingtan 3 turbo so went to pangu running. by the way it’s my mistake, fly is not available in shop yet.

Tried to slow jog a few rounds inside the shop at very slow pace. Indeed good and comfy for slow pace as well. Doesn’t force u to run fast. Unfortunately it wears abit big at the front for my usual size and side is a little bit tight.

Tsk..... another one yest morning. TMCR. Truck shd be turning out, very likely visibility issue.
I know for sure folks wld say it is day time and this fella wearing bright pink somemore so is just the case of truck driver being inattentive. But look, as a driver/cyclist as well as runner/walker etc....... it is not a perfect world out there.

Sometimes other road users really cannot see you la for whatever reason........cannot see means cannot see.

That is why even running, i don front/rear flashing lights on my running belt esp since most times i am running in the dark. But since you are not gunning on the road together with faster moving vehicles, you dont need super bright lights.

Just sufficient for crossing junctions (for sure many of you are jogging across one) and letting cyclists see you ok liao. It is not 100% foolproof, but for sure the risk is significantly reduced.
I can tell you, from experience, the difference between having no lights vs have lights is HUGE even on so-called lit PCN paths. Esp for the lesser lit ones like some parts of Geylang PCN near Tg Rhu.

I got a question, are you able to sleep well after the run at 11pm?

Last time, I got a period of time when I used to run at 9pm. During my sleeping time at 11.30pm to 12pm, I can't fall asleep. Read up articles online and it's due to Adrenaline. After that, I don't really run at night liao.
Hello, nice to see you in this thread too

I usually sleep 2h after finishing my night runs
