7.7km

1st half: 21.24
2nd half: 43.13

Zone 2: 5.37 min/km

Didn't get any stitch, chest felt slightly tight in the middle but the feeling disappeared later on

Should you get that chest tightness check out? Maybe a Treadmill ECG Stress test and let the Cardiologiist clear you for peace mind

could be muscular tightness, try doing more stretches around the chest areas more often and see if it helps. happened to me before too.

Just go for the standard cardiac stress test ...... $400 for peace of mind, is decent, can flush out a fair number of things. Resting ECG + treadmill.

If want ultrasound i think another $300-400 more.

CT coronary angiogram & CT calcium score add another $800 or so. This one hit 50 can consider doing.

All will have some standard blood/urine test, so it's inclusive of those ~ $160 general health checkup. So consider it 2-in-1.

If want cheaper, go Melaka or BKK do......BKK can do during your annual hols. $39-60 hotels, so you stay 2-3 weeks also no issue. Can include your expensive dental stuff too. Or if you wan endo and colonscopy also can.

SG really !$!@##$@! all these.

Really how much cheaper at Melaka? I am already of the age that really need to check with Doc if I should carry on with those interval session or not. I ever thought of 'keng' an excuse for Polyclinic to refer me to a cardiologist so they can do ECG treadmill stress test and Echocardiogram or whatever expensive test, but at subsidize rate.. Don't know complain chest tightness and pain (angina) during exercise would they consider to play safe with my age and give me all the tests as subsidized patient?

By the time u get a subsidized referral to see a cardiologist and then referral from the cardiologist to do these tests at a subsizided rate, I think chao chao another 6-8 months away liao.

Depends on the hospital you choose. If you choose SGH or TTSH, maybe yes. But the newer hospitals, the waiting time is still bearable. I got my procedure for piles and colonoscopy done within two months after Polyclinic referral at SKGH.

I had hyperthyroidism somewhere in 2020 after getting covid. The referral was fast around one month for first appt for the Cardio SKGH, since I reported heart palpitation and abnormal resting ECG. Fast track followup within two weeks got my echo scan done and cleared by cardio no need to follow up. i was hoping he would do the ECG stress test, but he said no need.

Quite a fair bit, my FIL goes there to do. Say for eg Colonscopy, SG nowadays standard at ard 1.8k but i believe since last yearpricest would have increased. I have already noticed it for my wife's procedures/stays. (basket Mount elizabeth already removed the accompanying lodger meals and gotta pay liao, plus removed the free limo service during checkout, but then the prices have inched up)
Over there at a good private is $800. Then every other time he opts for gastroscopy as well and it's around the same story.

Can also load up on any medications as well. This one well known la. The most kua zhang i ever encountered is Neurofen syrup, $10.80 (on discount 8.60) here in SG and over there is below $2.

As for requesting for such cardiac tests, they would have their own SOPs as to when to initiate tests coz i am sure they have seen keng cases.......so as usual, can try it's not impossible, but make it believable.

What i can share is that during 2021, my mum went to visit A&E as a precaution as her BP shot to as high as low 200s for diastolic (that time ECG/EKG not sure what they did for her was showing up as ok). Her hypertyriodism causes arrythmia as well. And so during a more routine checkup at GP, did a static ECG/EKG, the doc saw some wierd things on the graph printout and asked her to go either A&E or polyclinic. And your above-mentioned journey began. Got an appt at NHC and they did an ultrasound with contrast if i rem correctly. It was not CT based. Due to age, the treadmill was not used, instead a medication was used to raise the HR. So as the HR goes up and hit a threshold, she'd be immediately (literally thrown) onto a table and they'd get the ultrasound, they repeated this a few times to get good images coz apparently not so easy might not be able to see due to blockages etc. Damn terok as she alternated between the bed and chair.

End up nothing, apparently they were able to get a calcium score as well, minimal calcium at the valves, only got 1 valve got calcium deposits but nothnig to be worried about, coz old aged supposed to be like that.
Arteries no blockages.

That time due to covid, she visited poly @ Q2 2022 i think, got appt to do during Q3 2022, but coz of covid surges, she postponed it until 2023 Jan then do this procedure. Postpone via Healthub app, quite easy.
Same consultant at NHC. throughout.

I believe this whole thing would cost around 1k in SG via private? Can go straight for the ultrasound, no need other things.

What i think would happen is this......if solely based on verbal communications, they would order a standard treadmill stress test after the 2nd visit, cost solely for this is $400-500 at private. 1st visit if lucky you might get a static ECG, that one cheap cheap GP can do (i think $40 or $60) so i think dont bother for this one.

Only when you have verifiable symptoms like arrythmia, ECG/EKG graphs looks wonky, would they order ultrasound and up. For my mum's case they'd have done CT angiogram if she was ok with that, but she wanted to least terok one.

In short, need to have persistence in this, they wont make it so easy. Not even with any past history.

Might as well go private and ask for diagnostic angiogram and get done with.

Unlikely to progress to significant stenosis in 4 yrs or fatal mi in 10 yrs for totally clear arteries without significant risk factors.

If arterial plagues noted that do not result in critical stenosis requiring atenting, LDL needs to be well optimised and in rare cases where LDL is low, apo b can be used as a marker in such discordance.

Well this is not standard medical guidelines, btw. For those who can afford it, can consider.

In years to come, it is likely that lower ldls are going to be in the guidelines as at current levels still have significant silent heart diseases.

Recommended to check for lipo(a) which is much more atherogenic than LDL.

Lipo(a) is genetics and rarely checked in SG. Just need to check once in a lifetime.

Just slowly ramp up from twice a week 30 mins then add 10% duration each week.....my wife/I since covid P2 doing it and ramped to near daily basis from Q3 2020 to Q3 2022 with walking. Daily ranges from 30 mins to just over an hour (not that often tho)....but i suspect those 1hr ones more like zone 1, slower paces. But there were times in which i did SIT also, so.......

Then Q3 2022 i attempted to start running, 5.30-6.00 pace zone 2 for around 3km no issue liao, ie can pass IPPT. (but of coz i am middle aged so no IPPT).

So technically can train to pass IPPT (last time 5.12 pace passing for me) via just walking? :ROFLMAO:

IPPT 2.4 kinda distances and Z2 aerobic base shd be easy enough for vast majority of the folks.
Generally just go on duration and intensity (eg by effort level and HR), will be fine.

Just completed my ippt in November and i'm only left with 1 more next year then MR lo.

I used to train for my IPPT by just running 2.4km for 3 times a week. This method seems to work for me as it saves time. I was able to achieve a good time (~10:00 mins) in the past but not now anymore. I think it's due to aging haha.

It's alot easier to pass IPPT as compared to the 5 stations standard in the past.

Good job, yea its definitely easier than the 5 stations. I would personally still prefer the chin up and shuttle run. Push up and sit up not much use to the body tbh. Sbj is okay since I hv no prob jumping.
