hey
@Ender, did you pay for TrainAsOne premium membership? is it good?
Yes, I am on the premium. Personally I find this suits me better than generic training plans from DAniels, Hansen or Pfitzinger. If you are like me, with mediocre talent for running, this might suit us better. Most generic training plan are just too tough for me.
But do take note, there this one test call Perceived Effort Run Assessment, don't do it too fast. DO it too fast, your future easy days and long runs will based on that perceived effort, and the training can get too hard.
From my experience, run with zone 2 HR during the Perceived Effort assessments.
When I started out with TrainASone 4 years back, I did my Perceived Effort Run at about zone 3 since it was rather easy and short test. When the programmed began to introduce back to back easy days and long s runs, I was assigned doing 18k to 25 km back to back at 5.30min pace for one week in the peaking phase of the training. Burnt out and gave up the programme. But I restart in 2023, and did my perceived effort assessment properly at zone 2, everything works well now for me.
Another thing to note, the training are 99% pace based. So I have a Coros foot pod, which give fairly good instant pace. Most GPS watch can't do instant pace well by itself. But I heard the Garmin 255/955 and newer models in the series can do this fairly well if all bands GPS are turned on. SO it's not easy to gauge your pace to match the assign pace with normal GPS watches (Garmin 245 or older). Previously without the foot pod, I used 1km lap pace to gauge, which also can work if your 'agar agar' is well calibrated. You can also set to 500m lap your watch, so you have a idea how fast you are going at shorter intervals.
You can do the programme base on HR too, since they also prescribe the HR intensity, but then things become too easy. The guide says the preference is to use pace base training.
