@rarenick , just for info only.
This fella current fitness standard is ******* fit already. In T100 recently he was slightly faster in the run leg and somewhat slower in his bike and swim, overall finish timing i think just trailing 10 mins behind our SG's (full) Ironman record holder (Ben Khoo). His most recent 2.4k time is 7:30 some months ago and is most likely slightly faster now. i And remember he is still relatively young, so stuff like MHR, Z2 HR comparatively would be lower vs older folks.

I heard before @ Maxwell cyclists makan table talk base ride they roll solo training 35-36kmh / HR 150+. I am not sure if they measured with a lactate meter or something before or not, but I think here Tour de SG we have SEA tour standard, just undiscovered. Of coz there are things like cardiac drift due to heat here and HR variability, but i think it's unlikely to be affecting so many.

Question for those participating in local marathons. With the typical flag off timing being so early, how do you guys make it down to the venue without your own private transport? Take Grab?

Cheapest and one of the most no hassle way is to ride bikeshare bicycle to that place. Even for grab, sometimes you run the small risk of no getting one in time esp if your location is notorious for not able to have 1. But if too far away like > 15km also jialat to cycle.
Best if you have your own bicycle.

Yeah bicycle would be considered own transport but finding some place to secure your bike at the venue also troublesome. Drive down parking also might be an issue. Wonder if got people so on go stay overnight at or near the venue. Maybe find a 24 hr MCD or something LOL.

I read from some runners who went for the previous Lazada run, there's a lot of goodies in the bag and also at post run, due to many sponsorship. So bring a Ikea Frakta bag for the run or REPC. According to them, goodies they collected likely offset the high price of the race.
Went for the previous run and it was great. Well organised and many goodies.

Popular races will tie with other shuttle bus company, but have to pay and go to the nearest designated pickup point. It's still cheaper than PHV. Most convenient it PHV but most expensive, but would be the most logical choice is you can find 3 others runners from around your place.

This is huge. Strava to acquire RUNNA. Just hoping that all will be under one Strava subscription.

Strava to Acquire Runna, A Leading Running Training App

SAN FRANCISCO – April 17, 2025 –
Strava, the app for active people, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Runna, a UK-headquartered tech company developing personalized running training plans and coaching. The acquisition unites the world’s largest fitness community with a leading app in the fiercely competitive running training space, creating compelling value for users and shareholders of both companies.
“Coming off Strava’s accelerated innovation and unprecedented growth last year, it was the right time to look for complementary businesses that could create even greater value for our users,” said Michael Martin, chief executive officer, Strava. “Running is booming worldwide—nearly 1 billion runs were recorded on Strava in 2024. Runna’s mission to give every runner a personalized plan to achieve their goal is a perfect fit.”
According to Strava’s Year In Sport data, running is the fastest growing sport globally, and Gen Z in particular are turning to running to create community and connection. This has created a sharp increase in race participation, with 43% of Strava users wanting to conquer a big race or event in 2025. Demand for training plans has grown quickly as more athletes look for personalized guidance.
“We are delighted to become part of Strava as we continue to focus on bringing the world the most customized and personalized training plans available,” said Dom Maskell, co-founder and chief executive officer, Runna. “We have spent many hours together with Strava senior management and we couldn’t be more excited to be on the same team,” he added. “Our passion is to give every runner a training plan and access to amazing coaching and this investment allows us to make even more improvements to everything we do at Runna, benefiting runners worldwide” said Ben Parker, co-founder.
“I have been deeply impressed with Dom, Ben and the Runna team,” said Martin. “Our plan is to keep the apps separate for the foreseeable future, to invest in growing the Runna team and further accelerate the development of the Runna app.”
The deal is part of Strava’s ongoing initiatives to innovate for its 150+ million registered users and represents deep investment in Strava’s API developer community. Over 100 training apps currently connect to Strava’s API in order to provide users with enhanced features and functionality. Strava remains firmly committed to maintaining this role as the open platform for fitness and to supporting all developers, alongside Runna. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to recognize and invest in an API developer like Runna,” said Martin. “Strava is the community for all active people regardless of sport, skill level, location, app or device.”
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions. Additional terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

I checked my solo ride back in 2021. 89.16km, 27.4kph, 138bpm. I got frens much faster.

Just get a cheap foldie on carousell, anywhere also can park. But if got MRT then sure got racks. But anyway, cheap foldie cheap helmet, just lock to the public path railings / poles/tree also can.
The benefit of a foldie (or any personal bike of any form) is that can use the road better + helmet and do 15-20km also no issue. Bike sharing difficult, even if you get your own helmet from TB, and actually not cheap also if you are a regular runner.
