really good race and 青山学院 Aoyama Gakuin University runner Asahi Kuroda is damn good (if i am not wrong, his marathon PB is around 2:06). His uphill run was amazing

This type high chance just become corporate ekiden runners and run till after their prime, then can do coaching.
Housing and other living needs are given as additional benefits.

Talking about big corporations also, like Honda. JR, Kanebo etc...confirm still guaranteed decent role and salary guarantee (job security) after running prime. If you know about Japan, senior "CBL" not frowned upon there and wont be obselete unless whole company goes down under, unlike here in SG where high chance nowadays sure tio pok.

Interesting....... can try if you are interested, more variety than the bread and butter ones. Got additional benefit or not, not sure.

But that third one, the circular loop version, might have some slight added benefits that tradition common ones does not touch for the gluteus med and max (TFL also?) but obviously this one is not for full ROM training. The first two for psoas, not so much.

Ok, better post more traditional common motions

indeed. The teams are well supported financially by the local corporations. The talented runners are guaranteed employment and continue their running career professionally after graduation, complete with a salary, housing, and job security.

midsole too soft and mushy in SG weather. Even for me in Shanghai, it’s a regret buy from Japan.

My personal recommendation is Dynafish Xiaonian if you are into non plated ones high stack ones. Not sure if it is for you. ANTA zone 2 90 as another non-plated option at similar price range. A cheaper alternative will be the XTEP 2000km Pro. More established brands options to consider are Adidas Evo SL and Asics Megablast, the latter is super expensive. (Only have DYNAFISH Xiaonian thus my recommendations. The others are from reviews)

There are other choices at similar prices for plated options.
reading thru rednote, some ppl say need change the shoelace and insole layer. do u think need to change?

yah runrepeat reviews do that
https://runrepeat.com/asics-novablast-5
"ASICS introduced FF Blast MAX as an enhanced foam in several ways, but its performance in cold weather leaves much to be desired. We found it became a teeth-grinding 42.3% firmer after just 20 minutes in the freezer!"
main issue is the inherent characteristics of the midsole.

my observation:
temp from high 10s or low 20s and higher, midsole start becoming soft and mushy (feels tiresome to run in them). Worse when it goes higher. Many in here can vouch for the mushy characteristics in SG climate. I noticed the differences between 20s, 10s and single digit degC.
Once temperature goes below mid 10s, start getting firmer and nicer to run. It is actually quite nice to run in single digit degC. Did a 15km run in it yesterday at 3-8degC. Very enjoyable.
In one of my previous post, i have also highlighted the review from runrepeat on this shoe and when the shoe is placed in the freezer at 0degC for 20min, the firmer increased significantly.

This issue, no matter how one change shoe laces and midsole can't quite solve the issue, imo.

if u r asking about 小鲶, for me insole no need to change. You have to try yourself to test and decide if changing it will help. As for shoelaces i want to change but the width of the shoelaces gap is only 4mm, too narrow for typical shoe laces. Am the type who likes to wash my shoes after runs which also includes removing shoe laces hence i gave up the idea of changing shoe laces.

Was it cramped at the start?

Saw a 5.02/km which is nowhere near your other km paces
Nope only at the end, but the start was quite crowded though not too severe of a crowd. I wanted to reach 4.20 min/km by 7km, and I did it.

My splits on strava are: 10k (4.14 min/km) >> good
15k (4.21 min/km) >> GI issue (too much phlegm and had to vomit in the end)
20k (4.27 min/km) >> Cramp + GI issue

I would like to try to achieve at least 4.21 min/km for HM in Sg, as I build up for GCM in July. Planning to do this on track + gel test + early morning.
Actually I can help a bit on the fueling part.....only difference is that mine is cycling.
For me and my kid, we always cramp our back pockets with full of snacks, various stuff but usually is the harder stuff and it includes dry stuff like Oreos, needing water intake if not really choking feeling. 🤣

No scientific basis or timings like every 20-30 mins or what, but we eat very often. The idea is to make it like muscle memory for the stomac, rinse and repeat and rinse and repeat, even shorter workouts also make it a point to take something. If wanna practice the consistency aspect, can try melted chocolate + a bit of water. (body heat would melt it).

When doing longer routes like LCK/Neo Tiew, i even pack my $2 sandwich....2 breads, tuna and mayo inside, i buy 1 day beforehand from bakery. Stop at bus stop, makan.
With my kid, we even could take 1 full bowl of bak chor mee/fishball, makan, then hoot after that. Or like yesterday, 1 full bowl of $4 porridge (ming kee porridge at West Coast Market) and stomach full of porridge then continue journey liao, no rest. But note, this is only lower intensities like zone 2 for my kid, who also dont puke/have GI issues despite having nearly full stomach full of food. We are talking about 80-100km of mileage for the kid on a foldie.

Over time, the fuel intake is of a higher importance than GI issues, the body learns one, make your body learn it this hard way. 🤣
I find that over time, your stomach really learns and compensates.....

Like just now, i was doing my short workout (ard 45 mins of intervals only) and i just had 3 of Duplo bars......simply coz i dont do pre workout BF one lah Totally no issue nowadays, unless if you going very very hard.
I have to get used to taking gels every 30 minutes and adapt to it. Will be unnatural at first but eventually will find one that works for me.

Was this your first HM race? Wah you didn’t take any gels for this race? Or did you? Anyway, quite decent splits for your first race if that is.

I was in Japan during the Ekiden the race. The coverage of the event is world class and the event is so seriously taken. You can easily watch the whole race on normal TV and nothing was gatekeep between a paywall. The professionalism of the coverage blows anything away any sporting coverage that our region has done. After the race, the winners were invited to their talk show to recap the race.

Across 2 days, there were 56.2million ppl tuned in to watch live.
