Our common language is English..
Fairer…
English is our First language
Chinese or Malay or Tamil is second languages
Malay as national language is non existing already
Best don’t mention about our long lost National language
Else will be a laughing stock

Our common language is Malay.

Their national (public) schools teach subjects in Malay, Chinese are private schools.

Since our national language is Malay, then it's fairer to say it's our common language.

English is our language for business.
Second languages aka mother tongue Chinese, Malay, Tamil.
Malay is undeniably our national language although many can't speak the language either coz they've never learned it, or although being from the generation when it's still widely spoken with non-English nor Chinese fellow citizens, they either didn't mix much with them or mostly lived abroad.
Denying/hiding that it's our national language...much like leaving town and hiding the fact that we're from here. Living in denial.
Barely 2 hours from our national day, when the stadium will still roar Majulah Singapura. NOT Onward Singapore.

Anyway, going OOT already...

Attempt to speak the language whenever necessary. When being a visitor/guest in a foreign country, don't carry the entitled attitude that the locals have to speak your language.

Malaysians know that many Singaporeans can't speak the language well, but they'd appreciate whatever attempt is made. Please don't go "why cannot speak English/Chinese one?" Yes, a friend did that and I left him to fend for himself while we continued to shop that day. He started to learn.

while singapore sees pyhsical bookstore disappearing, across the channel, they are opening...

Popular having a mini fair in City Square. I wandered around while waiting for a friend, and saw a sign "exclusively in Popular" or something to the effect. Next to it I spotted a table of puzzle books, crosswords, etc. Do people still buy them these days, I wonder...

Christmas lights down the road in front of Capri onto JB Sentral! 😳 That's the traffic entering into BSI and exiting to JB Sentral? Made worse by the traffic passing the bus station then make the U-turn. 🫣

According to Caring, they are discontinuing and won’t bring in anymore.
Anyone who is using it better go stock up.
