I took the bus to JB last Saturday from Bugis.
The SJE bus fare had finally gone up in tandem with the CW2 price. (Talk about market price manipulation) I felt strange why it was still $3.XX when I went over in early May. Must have been slow in seeking approval for the increase.

reached checkpoint in around 40min and cleared SG customs pretty quickly. but that’s also when the nightmare started. There was a snaking queue for the cars when crossing over. And true enough, when I reach the MY customs, there was a human queue I’ve never seen for years. Hahaha. What social distancing?

Fresh after surviving that trama queue, I went to queue for curry fishhead. Haha. Earlier wanted to queue for manjaink card but gave up. Jalan Jalan, caught a movie. They had self service machines and didn’t accept cash! There was also no manual ticket office to buy from! So I just asked the local beside to help me. I had brought my YouTrip card along just in case but realised it had expired all through covid. Hahahahaa. Oh ya, couldn’t find those cheap Indian barbers at the meldrum side anymore.

wanted to cross back over to SG at 1030pm and my god it was almost similar to what I encountered when I came over. Knowing it was gonna be at least another 1hr wait, I decided to just stay over and get back the next day. I didn’t go get a room and decided to rough it out. There was a night bazaar at Jln segget but it was boring (comparing it to the malacca one). Anyhow, I went to meldrum and found a Chinese kopitiam to lakopi and lounge at watching the TV but it started closing at 2am. Surprisingly couldn’t find any satay also. The Malay stall was selling bbq fish and other dishes though but I just wanted easy finger food. So I left and walked around to explore. Oh yes I took precaution not to go into dark alleys. The JBsentral drop off point oppo CS was now pretty empty though there was a 24hr convenience store and a “security” with a makeshift table and chair sitting around. It was around 3am I decided to catch a wink on the concrete benches. A few people were already sleeping there. Haven’t slept like that since army outfield days. I think I rested for an hr max. The occasional noise from the cars speeding past kept me awake. Haha. At around 5, I started my 5BX. kidding. I went to walk around to jln tan Hiok nee. Had teh at the coffeeshop oppo hiapjoo. Initially wanted to wait til 830am? before huamui open but I decided to try another joint - kopiloco for the chicken Chop since they open much earlier. Bought some banana cakes from hiapjoo and left back to SG. Caught up with some sleep once back home.

power lah, 2001 lao jiao roughing it out along the streets of Meldrum

those after dark road side foot massage along the inside main road of Meldrum still around?

last weekend was for those that have no choice but to go over people, ie; family with school holiday children and those who "work regular hours"

Wednesday Day trip Travel plan;

~1345 hrs - Orh Chien round 1

in between, take bus to Plaza Sentosa and check out the massage (clean(for this trip)) there, squeeze in a 1hr foot and 1 hour body, if the decent ones are still around. I think Kaki Kaki should be large enough of a chain to not close down.

~1800 hrs - Orh Chien round 2

i thought that was the 2nd weekend of the jun holidays?. Anyhow, i like to do unconventional stuff.
i did pass by one brightly lit T-hotel but it was plastered with "rooms full" outside.

Oh yes, i did see the foot masseurs in action when i left the kopitiam at 230am. never noticed them previously before. I usually go there for last-stop street food before going back but this time around i was a little late and most of the street hawkers had closed so i had to settle for kopitiam.

surprisingly also, the night bazaar was cleared spick and span when i walked back around 530am

They won't check the app when entering Malaysia but some malls still want to check. At first I thought don't need already so didn't ask my family member to download. Yesterday went to Paradigm need to show. We stand at the entrance and download (which means make sure at least one person in your party has data plan). Best is to do it in advance la, vax status updated or not isn't that important cos can always show on TraceTogether.

Have been driving in and out for years, no one checked or asked for VEP.

think only "Paradigm mall" check on the apk.

the rest no feedback on checking ..

midvalley also dont check...

Last month I went Toppen (IKEA Tebrau) also got check. Don't know where they find the manpower and budget to station people at all entrances to check when it is no longer legally required. Also good la I parked near the entrance at Paradigm, they can help me watch my car haha.

Google Map, 10 min, 700m via Jalan Ibrahim

But if you're unsure, make your way to JB Sentral and use the overhead linkway all the way there?

Time of the day (peak, off-peak) does make a difference. I looked at the KSL-Mid Valley rate... these 2 places are not that far from each other, so I guess the timing (and availability) played a part there...

ok next time i will walk via link bridge
If you've no elderly or baby/toddler with you, can try finding a way to cross over to the other side of the road by the straits and walk in the direction of R&F. I think the walking route Google gave may be showing a pedestrian crossing, that's why a little confusing... Not sure, I only went to play with the street view thingy and thought of this possibility.
